Declamatory Interstate 35 owes a debt of gratitude to the above pictured students who worked hard to memorize prepared speeches to compete against other students of the county and state in the 1963 speech contests held at Winterset and Perry. Winners of the home contest in the humorous declamation division which was held the evening of February 5 were: Nancy McDonald, with her rendition of Lamentations of A T eenager g Charlotte Campbell, with her interpretation of the beauty in The Beauty Contest and James Holland with his recitation of Accustomed As I Am.' Paula Phillips won in the dramatic division with White Lilacs, and Vernon Kirkpatrick won in the oratorical division with his capable interpretation of Frank E. Gannett's The American Constitution.
