Synopsis Poor HildegardeISixteen. . .andawallflower. . .and nodate for the prom. All Jim and Bobcan think of is muscle build- ing, fishing, and girls, Sally tries to help, but how much can a younger sister do other than sympathizeIAnd Mother--she arranged a date with Freddie Shermer, the son of Father's boss. Freddie's a nice guy, but he wears short pants, and Bob's girl friend is making me the laughing stock of the whole school because I have a date with Freddie. Paige, the little neighbor girl distributed Father's love letters to Mother all over the neighborhood, so now he is really in trouble, especially after my speech on prohibition that I gave at the school assembly. What a mess! but with the aid ofa fake robbery, facial mud, and a few other antics, Hildegarde has a REAL DATE IN LONG PANTS--Freddie: Father's job is more secure than , , ever, the Dolsons and Shermers are closer friends, and all ' ' ends happily for Hildegarde and Freddie.
