x Mala X i X l xx Y!-fi. l Caught by the lens of the camera are the scenes that we have pictured within these pages. Scenes that reveal the aims, principles, and life of I.B.C. This has been a year of victories: Two alumni members and Brother Coote embarked for japan to carry on the work thereg the spiritual feasts and spiritual growth of students and faculty alike as a result of Brother Moores ministryg the class week-ends, a glorious time of hallelujah resultsg the miraculous victories over financial burdensg the unity of love and brotherhood during the all day holiday picnics at New Braunfels and Brackenridge Parkg that memorable chapel service when instead of a forty-five minute period, we had a five-hour periodg the rigid but welcome training of house-to-house campaignsg and then finally-graduation-victorious but, oh the sad farewells! So revealed in these pages are the highlights of the 1949-1950 school year. xx X r y K X XXX XXX X . . . .K THE LORD'S PROMISE A5 Sm: Antozzzo 15 cl mzlmu y fezztm, Jo I will make it zz Jpnzlzml it mf V N , 'H' WM 1 QE, ':'fj9ifiam'm5 W W N N H IE W5 Q L 1- . Among this group of consecrated young men and women were two young men who were destined and fore-ordained of God to be on foreign soil approximately a year from that day. Today Virgil Hughes and William Nukida are fulfilling God's plan and purpose for their lives. Brother Vir il attended International Bible 8 College for three years and during that time faithfully' served in several offices. His zeal and untiring ef- forts, especially in connection with functions of the Missionary Committee, have been an inspiration William at study to many. He has proven by his faithfulness that there is reality in serving Christ. Brother William attended other schools and did not come to I.B.C. until his senior year, but during this time he exhibited a quiet determination to follow the Master at any cost and soon won the love of all. He was ever willing to do his part and performed the most humble task with a cheerful attitude. In this brief inscription it would be impossible to express just what the lives of IBC's first mission aries-Virgil and William--have meant to the stu dents and faculty. May God abundantly bless their efforts and sacrifices for the glorious cause of Christ Virgil at Eiffel Tower 4. Our original plans are soon to materialize and the regal atmosphere of this building will be invaded by a staff of office workers. The main floor will be primarily a suite of offices and the second floor will be furnished to accommodate gLlCSllS. A Today this building is the hub-the center of activity-of I.B.C. Here you can feel the pulse and throb of campus life. Here the bonds of love have been drawn tighter by the hours of fellowship. The second floor has been home to the fellows while at school and undoubtedly many will experience a nostalgic feeling when they remember the hours spent there. The main floor has been a scene of bustling activity three times a day as we gather for our meals. And then some of our fondest memories will be associated with The Store when rain or shine we have congregated for mail-call and a bottle of pop, and refreshments during recess and after classes. 2' . 7' ls , ivy. 4' .f .ar-' .-Fiqh-.-E, ,. They are 0bJerz1e , found in joshua 117, Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest 0bJerzfe to do according to all the law: Look, found in John 4:35. Lift up your eyes, and look on the fieldsg for they are white already to harvest, and i'ludy found in 2 Timothy 2:15, Sindy to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Each of these three words conveys the same meaning, applicable in different circumstances. The man of God, though anointed by the Spirit of God needs to divide the Word of God correctly. He also needs to know the spiritual condition of men and women with whom he comes in Contact with con- stantly, that he may be able to efficiently, as a medical practitioner with his drugs, apply the right message. You have often heard the expressions in school- the A.B.C. of the Bible Study- analyze, bisect and compare or contrast. Continue this as you engage in Christian work, but not only analyze, bisect and compare the written word of Godg also observe human nature, know the why's and the wherefores of the varying conditions you meet with. Remember, you have been saturated with the Word and for every seemingly complex and strange problem you come across in dealing with men and women your know- ledge of the Word will produce a remedy. Spend much time alone with God in your closetg make your Bible your constant companion, weigh conditions and situations that would baffle the natural intelli- gence of man. Above all Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a Workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth. af?- PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER They have passed through I.B.C.-out into the While looking into their faces, Pictured in the world, to win souls for Christ- Torchbearers of '47, '48, and '49, sweet memories and praises to God flood the soul, and bring tears to the eyes !- What miracles of grace God hath wrought in these lives! Harvesters! Harvesters! was the name that was on the lips of a group of freshmen students, for it was the name that they had chosen for their class. That was three years ago. Yes, that was three years ago. As the school doors flew open that fall, a group of sixty-six came from the north, south, east and west, representing fifteen different states. Classes started, and so did a process of sharpening our sickles. We learned that, though we had various personalities and characteris- tics, we were moving as a mighty band to invade the harvest fields of the world. By the second semester our number had grown to seventy-eight, and we were glad to welcome our new classmates in our ranks. The weeks flew, and before we knew it, the final tests were over, and we were on the brink of campaign time. That which we had heard so much about was now here. Our place of operations for that year was New Braunfels. After arriving, we set up housekeeping and got down to business in a tent revival in coordination with the morning house-to- house visitations. The Lord blessed, and we had a glorious time together in the Lord. Then we shipped off for San Antonio again for convention, packing of suitcases, and a final Goodbye to all. October again, and time for the HARVESTERS to gather back to l.B.C. for another year of learning how to use our sickles more effectively. With anticipa- tion in the surroundings of the new campus, the returning group of thirty-six wondered what the year had in store for them. We busied ourselves in activi- ties and studies, and felf the blessing of the Lord as the year went by. Once again it came time for us to get cots, dishes, and clothes, packed up and ready to UGO. The campaign this time was held in Velasco. How God did bless! After two weeks of wonderful services, we returned to mournfully say goodbye once again. Well! We made it. Seniors now. Twenty-two noses were counted as we took our places in the senior class room. We were all ready to settle down and make the best of it this year. As we approach the end of another glorious year, we, the HARVES- TERS, are looking forward to the time we shall return from another victorious campaign timeg and then to the great harvest fields of the world with a brandished sickle in our hands and the words of our Master, Put Ye in the sickle in our hearts. The Foreign Missionary Committee, under the capable leadership of john Paul Hughes, has constantly kept the need of the unsaved millions of the world before us. The inspiration received from the messages by the special speakers in missionary chapel services lives on in our hearts. The stirring appeals for more laborers in letters from missionaries, some who had been in school with us, created within us a deep desire, Lord, send me.
