CLASS HISTORY In the great year of l9h8 we entered our first year in high school as meek and lowly freshmen. This year was strange at first but soon proved to be very exciting and interesting. Our school advisor in this new year was Miss Zinnl, and she really had many a trial and trlbulation before we finished that year. In our sophomore year our advisor was Mr. Elliott. We had several boys participating in the different sports and several of the sophomore girls were on the cheer-leading teams. Also, this was our first year to really get going in all of our money-making ac- tivities. In the ninth month of l95O we entered our junior year. This was one of the best years of our school life. Putting mna play, duwes and bake sales, kept us so busy that we were beginning to doubt wh ich way we were going. This year our c l as s officers were as follows:Yvonne Jenkins, President, Onalee Vosburgh,V1ce- Presi- dent, and Barbara Boorom, Secre- tary-Treasurer. We On The Spot,' which ing this year, Mrs. aren't on the facuhg for their help and At long last 1951 senior year after this year were the McBride, V1ce-Presi- and Abbye Louise Subscription Drive huge success as over our goal. Warner, A. Stewar , , Stout Beardslee, H. Ganoung, G. Powexl, V. English, 15 WHO' S WHO First I'd like to introduce our capable class president, Mildred Dendis. Millie is just about the workingest girl we know. If you don't believe me, fol- low her around some day. If you can find Anna Mae Batty without a smile on her face, you're better than most. And did you ever see such cute dimples? Virginia Bucs? may be short in stature, but she makes up for it with her vi- vacious personal ty. Elizabeth White, uThe blonde bombshell,n is the official class morale booster. What would classes be without Liz to pep them up? Sandra Stout is the possessor of the most bubbling personality. Sandy is in her glory when shizzingdown the road in her Model nAn. Barbara Boorom can usually be found day-dreaming about a little white cot- tage - furnished! Gordon Powell is the tallest member of the class. Besides, girls, he has the prettiest car. Charlotte Saylor is the official baby Q?J sitter of Ovid Center. We hear they have some pretty cute babies in that vicinity. Doris McBride surely earns the name of nclass giggler.n She has only one problem, once she gets started, she can't stop. Louise Van Doren, better known as the nArthur Murrayn of Interlaken, can be found any time at a dance hall. Agnes Stewart, our competent police chief, spends most of her time pestering Mr. Glidden. Phyllis Warner can be found every Saturday night at Hayward's Barn rendering service with a smile. Marge Wilcox has the biggest collection of blue ribbons of anyone we know. She doesn't always have serious thoughts on her mind, though. Abbye Louise Georgia is a girl of many intgrggtg, Chief among them is a good guy named Ernie. If you don't believe Ame, watch her eyes light up when she sees him. Yvonne Jenkins, better known as nThe Editor,n can usually be found home in bed under a mountain of blankets, moaning about the Nterrible New York weather.n Barbara Gleason isn't hard to keep track of. All you have to do is look for some beautiful blonde curls and a handsome fellow wearing the Air Force Blue. Incidentally his name is Freddie. Louise Messenger is one of the more devoted Q?J students. She can usually be found somewhere in the vicinity of Trumansburg. Betty Lou Palmer, our cheerful advertising manager, can usually be heard saying, Won g011yL,Ihat if I don't pass that Chemistry test?n Vernon English, the class comedian, manages to keep things in an uproar. Just ask Mrs. Vang she knows. Audrey Harvey, our gal with the long black hair, spends a lot of time hone writing to husband Archie. Onalee Vosburgh is one of the quietest members of the class. In spite of that she possesses an interesting personality. Just ask sons of those nice pen pals. Harold Ganoung has but one aim in life - to earn enough money to buy a yam's supply of hub-caps so he won't have to hunt for the ones he loses. Last but not least we have the class orator, Phyllis Cushman. She can us- ually be found discussing the day's hapafnings over a cup of coffee at Cronk'm BAQBAQA xxxxxxxxxxmm' B EvE'2ETT 4 QT1 N iw Ra F, ,f P .X 'P H 14 ,fiwf .Y W, v 9 1 V JL , 45w ,4 ?g 1 f 1 3-'Q mi K, K ' 4 gg , ' 1 Mgr' 4 ,V K - ANNE as Nl. Norton, in behalf of our sponsor, the V. Engligh Construction Company. nDo you have problems concerning your building? I had them, too, until I hired V. English to build my new house. Before I hired this great building tycoon, I did not have a single idea about building my new house. I still don't know how because V. English keeps all of his ideas a secret. In fact, it is so much of a secret, that I can't find my house. Take my advice! Hire V. English and rid yourself of all construction problems.n nNow back to your reporter.n Word has just been received that Sandra Stout has been awarded the Nobel Prize for writing the musical score of the latest Broadway hit, nL1fe at I.C. S.n The author, Mr. U. L. Patterson, is now recuperating at Miami. Louise Messenger is planning- a trip to Europe with her very good friend Louise Van Doren. As you know, Miss Messenger is teaching the Human Rqlgtymm course at Cornell. Miss Van Doren recently purchased Madison Square Garden and is converting it into a modern dance hall. Attent1on,all politicians!!! Abbye Louise Georgia, the Noel Coward of Cornell, has written another smashing best-seller. Its title is nHow to Keep the Republicans in Power if They Ever Get There.n This book threatens to change the policy of the United States and start another Civil War. Harold Ganoung, owner of the famous racing establishment, Santa Anita, has just related to yours truly that he plans to race his six-time winner of the Kentucky Derby Races, Hamlet III, at the Polo Grounds in June of this year. Now another word from our other announcer, Mrs. Van Wagenen, in behalf of our other sponsor, The Phyllis Warner Way to Proper English. nYears ago I taught English at the Interlaken Central School. What a struggle I had with some of those classes. Until the class of 1952 came along I had a very difficult time convincing some of the classes that I was not in- sane. Then this wonderful Phyllis Warner wrote her amazing book, nThe Phyllis Warner Way To Proper English.n Since then, I simply ggye each stu- dent this book to read, instead of teaching him English. It is amazing the way these students treasure their books. I have never had a student get be- low 95? on an English Regents since I began using this book.n nNow, I return you to your reporter.n Flash!!! Marjorie Wilcox and Virginia Percey have just returned from Africa where they made a wonderful discovery. By chance, they came upon an undiscovered island, which they named nInterlaken' in honor of their beloved school. Gordon Powell, better known as the HSpeed Demonu, has won the Indianapo- lis Race for the seventh time in succession. Next year he plans to enter the International Auto Races in France. ' Elizabeth White, half-owner of the largest cattle farm in Texas, has an- nounced that she intends to start another cattle farm on the little plot in Argentina. Elizabeth and her husband were seen in the company of the Shah of Iran last Tuesday. They seem to have become very prosperous. Onalee Vosburgh, who was recently promoted to the position of secretary to the President of the United States, went to dinner with the Prince of Wales last week. It is said that they plan a trip to Hawaii in the spring. 18 PROPHECY Betty Lou Palmer, the celebrated coloratura with whom the Boston Symphony Orchestra is appearing, has been having trouble with several stage-door Johnnies. Agnes Stewart, her manager, says if certain things don't straighten themselves up retty soon, she is going to lower Betty Lou's curfew hour from 9:00 P.M. 'to 5:30 P.M. Better be careful, Betty LOU- There will be a brief pause for a word from our announcer, Mr. Raymond BuUis in behalf of our other sponsor, the Anna Mae Batty School of Culture. uDo you have trouble with your wife stumbling over the coffee table when you go visiting? Does she embarrass you by spilling coffee all over the boss's suit? If you have these troubles, and I'm sure you do, then send your wife to the Anna Mae Batty School of Culture and in just fourteen short days, SEE the difference. After Anna Mae is through with her, your boss will beg you to bring your wife to the office with you. She may stumble over the chairs or some other small objects but not the coffee table.u WNow I return you to your reporter.n Attention, Mr ion have just been competent and able on the traditional and Mrs. America. The returns from the Presidential elect- handed to me,and it pleases me to say that at last we have a person in office. The inauguration of Mildred Dendis will be date. Concerning the National Debt, Mildred has promised to keep a record so our grandchildren can see what we are doing with their money. Doris McBride, new owner of the Waldorf Astoria, is vacationing in Californ- ia. She was accompanied by her friend Charlotte Saylor, who is now in the em- ployment of the Aga Khan as his personal secretary. They, Charlotte and Doris, were invited to have dinner at the Brown Derby with the Warner Brothers. Barbara Boorom, newly elected Secretary-General of the Security Council, is planning a conference with the President of France to discuss the school system in the United States. Miss Barbara Gleason, formerly a Powers model, was elected Miss Photography by the Press Association. She is expected to win the Miss large majority. Here we took second honors, wlth the lthaca Band overpowering us. From this victory we received two trophies, the flrst ever won by an Interlaken Band Eleven members of the Band and Glee Club participated ln the Geneva All-State Fas tlval. This year will see the end of many of the members' musical careers. Our cap- able drum major and two bouncing twlrlers will be among those missing, but the prospects of filling these positions at least seem bright. We indeed will miss all of those leaving us and wish them success in whatever they do. Our other big events were the T-Burg Fair, ln which we came out tops in our re- gion and carried off the booty. We also gave an outdoor concert at the Reconstruct- ion Home ln Ithaca. Of course the summer was an eventful one with a parade a week in varlous sections of the county. At the present time we are preparing for our exchange of assemblies with the Bands and Glee Clubs of the Ovid, Romulus and T-Burg schools. These will give us a chance to accomplish more in our band work. MO ON BEANS Left to Right! P. Boorom-Tenor sax. M. Pettenglll-Sax clarinet, J. Darling-Sax, R. Schmidt-Sex clarinet, Y.
