BUCS INVADE CANADA Madame Burgess and eleven Interboro students flew to Canada in June to investigate our neighbors to the north. Trip participants were: Cheri Archer, Tracy Blithe, Dawn Chesnet, Shelly Coleman, Andrew Horan, Cathy Marren, Ken McLamon, Tina Mengenie, Mike Paquette, Mike Sharp, and Stephanie Zinni. The CM Tower, at 1,465 feet, provided a panoramic view of modern Toronto, while the Maid of the Mist boat ride intro- duced the group to roaring Niagara Falls. While passing through Ottawa, the Capital, the group vis- ited the national parliament buildings. In Montreal, the second largest French-speaking city in the world, they were encouraged to use their knowledge of the French language. Cultural activities included the Leonardo da Vinci exhibit, the use of the Metro system, the theater, sidewalk cafes, and disco roller-skating. Within the ancient-walled city of Quebec, the students en- joyed great shopping, les crepes fantastiques , and meet- ing some very nice Canadians - the perfect finale to an excit- ing trip! 9

BUCS ABROAD A group of Interboro students traveled to West Germany with Herr Gefrorer last sum- mer. The month long trip lasted from June 22 to July 22. The trip participants were: Carolyn Freeberry, John Greskoff, Fatty Jost, Colleen Marsala, Russ McDaid, Ken Pearl, and Ed Shepeski. The students stayed with host families in Krefeld and attended classes at Fichte Gymnasium. They went on day trips to Co- logne, Aachen, Venlo (Holland), Bonn, and Trier. Four days each were spent in Berlin and at Burg Bischofstein on the Mosel Riv- er near Koblenz. During the last week, the students trav- eled to Munich by way of Heidelberg and to the medieval town of Rothenburg-ob-der- Tauber. The group saw Salzburg; traveled through a salt mine; and visited the village of Oberammergau and Heuschwanstein Castle. 8

BETWEEN CLASSES TAKING A BREATHER Time between classes is generally spent socializing. Tirst and Second lunches pro- vide the best opportunity to catch up on 'what's happen- ing . Some students elect to get some fresh air, while oth- ers just hang out in the lob- by. Lunch is definitely the fa- vorite period of the day for most students at IHS.
