Our first day at Interboro Senior High, in September of 1965. was confusing and exciting. Meeting new teachers, wandering through strange halls, and that ever-so-long reception line at the end of the day were all a part of our initial encounter with I.H.S. Our first official act as the Class of '68 was the election of officers under the direction of our sponsor. Mr. Regester. Tom Davidson was elected president; Dan Hartig. vice-president; Cheryl Parris, secre- tary; and Jerry Kernaghan. treasurer. Our Sophomore Party, held on October 22. had a Halloween theme. Many sophomores were involved in Bye. Bye. Birdie, the first mus- ical presented by I.H.S. On May 13 we participated in our last official activity as sopho- mores. the Soph Hop. This semi-formal dance, with ‘‘Carousel’’ as its theme, was a great success. New principal! New students! A merger with Tinicum. a different sponsor, and different officers came with the new school year. Su- pervised by Mr. Heacock. junior elections made Alan Stein our pres- ident and Dave Millard our vice-president. Cheryl Parris and Jerry Kernaghan retained their positions. Our class worked with the Class of 1967 planning our first Junior- Senior Party. The theme was “Autumn Leaves’’ and the date was November 4. Later came the purchasing of school rings and then the Junior Prom. The prom was held on February 24. The gym was decorated to carry out the theme ‘Nite Life.” Afterwards many went to the af- ter-prom party held at the Norwood Legion. At the end of March, as a result of our class-sponsored musical. L’ll Abner, the school buzzed with talk of Sadie Hawkins and Jubila- tion T.Cornpone. Electing our officers for our senior year was also one of our junior activities. When the Class of '67 presented its assembly, we officially became seniors and the announcement concerning our election for senior officers was made — Alan Stein, president; Tom Davidson, vice-president; Cheryl Parris, secretary: and Jerry Kernaghan. trea- surer. Mighty Seniors! Football games! Homecoming Dance! As ’’The Best Seniors Ever. we began planning for our final year at I.H.S. For the first time in several years, a Senior Class Congress was organized to deal with class activities. Activity tickets were sold to reduce the amount of money spent on school activities by the indi- vidual student. Our Junior-Senior Party this year was held on November 17 with the theme Harbor Lights.” A huge lighthouse in the center of a beautifully decorated simulated harbor gave everyone the feeling of sailing on the sea. During Thanksgiving vacation our senior play, the hilarious. The Odd Couple, was held. In the spring. The Pajama Game, was pre- sented on two weekends. As usual, the musical was an outstanding success. May arrived. During the month the Senior Trip took 185 students to New York for a day of tours and an evening at Radio City Music Hall. Later in the month our Senior Prom was held at the Sheraton Hotel. After the prom many couples went on a boat ride on the Dele- ware River. June 5 was the date of two very important events in our lives. The Senior Assembly, our last school activity, reflected memories of the whole year. In the evening the Senior Banquet was held at the Media Inn. On Sunday. June 9. after two days of practice, and amid tears and the soft strains of Pomp and Circumstance, the class marched across the athletic field to graduation. Senior Class Advisors: STANDING: Mr. Wray. Mr. Smallridge. Mr. Kitching. SIT- TING: Mr. Heacock. Mrs. Rennard. Mr. Landis. Missing: Mr. Chelius. Miss Lyons. Mr. Overton. Mrs. Fox. 41 in memoriam Ruth Lee Barton The class of 68 would have been larger if fate had not stepped in. Late in the year of 1965, one of our classmates died. Ruth Bar- ton. aged 14. never graduated with us. Before she became ill. Ruth was. among other things, a manager of the girl's Basket- ball Team, a hockey player, and a member of the Jolly Roger Staff. After an illness of several months, Ruth died on June 10. 1965. Nevertheless, we cannot forget her and the memory of one so young and so eager to live. Robert D. Ahlborn: Bob; General; Intramural Vol- leyball 10.11J 2. Visual Aids 10.11. CLASS HISTORY As June nears, so does the end of our junior year, but first let us remember just how it began. Reunited after a year of separation between the two buildings, we began the year with the first taste of a political campaign. Interboro style. We all have capsule memories of this event: speech- es by the candidates, walls covered with signs, and the re-election of Bill Mcllwain as president. Also elected were Jesse Thorton, vice-president: Carol Bissinger, secretary: and Susan Gray, treasurer. A Class Congress was formed and served to represent us in class affairs. The Junior-Senior Party’s theme of Harbor Lights set the mood for this gala event. Later on in the year, on March 8. the Junior Prom was held. Rhapsody in the Rain, the theme of the prom, created a memory-filled evening for all of us. Spring brings the annual musical production. This year a sell-out audience enjoyed the presen- tation of The Pajama Game. We set a precedent by performing it on two successive weekends rather than the usual Wednesday-to-Saturday showing. As the end of this year approaches, we look ahead to next year. When we return to these fa- miliar walls, we vow to be the best Seniors ever! Mr. P. Roy Dwyer. Head Sponsor of the Junior Class. Florence, and Pisa during their Easter vacation. All of the participants in the Rome Tour would like to extend sincere thanks to Miss Stabinski for all her efforts in making the Rome Tour possible. Under the direction of Mr. Mobley the Hi-Q team had a very suc- cessful season. The team accumulated 107 points and set a record for the most points in one game by scoring 43. The playoff between Interboro. Chichester, and Haverford resulted in a tie. This was the first time in Hi-Q's history that there was a three way tie. Due to this, another game had to be played at Scott Paper Company. This play- off resulted in Interboro placing third. Due to the absence of Mr. Geno. the 1968 Rifle Team was coached by Miss Lieby and Mr. Overton. The team won all of its matches plus the regional and suburban titles. After a weekend of very fine shoot- ing at Penn State, the team finished second in the State Champion- ship. Shop Animals (Seniors): TOP R. T. Shannon. R. Ahlborn. H. Simon- ton. S. Golden. F.
