The first was to prepare the stu- dent for life and its vast responsibilities in an ever shrinking world. The second goal was to initiate an upward mobility, encouraging every student to advance himself socially, economically, culturally, aesthetically, and in- tellectually. In order to better achieve these goals, the department was in the process of revising and rewriting its curriculum. MR. Guidance The Guidance Department offered a service designed to assist students in selecting and individualizing their courses of study. It aided students in ascertaining their abilities and interests, and in determining the best way to develop them. Furthermore, it acted as liason agent between par- ent, teacher, and student, thus promoting understanding through adequate communication. Library and Reading During 1964-1965, the Reading Department offered stu- dents reading improvement courses, and made available an extensive library of books to suit every level of reading ability. The main library, on the other hand, served all students, whatever their demands were, and the librarian was aided in this service by members of the Library Club and by Li- brary Aids. MRS. JON A.
