Band Prospers Under New Director The ’78-79 band was larger in size and had a much better sound than in past years. The band performed at four concerts and marched at Inman’s Fall Festival. A pep band was also organized this year and played at home ballgames throughout the seasons. Concert band participated in the state music contest for the first time in years. They received a II rating at both league and state contests. Rat- ings of II were also awarded to the Brass Sextet at both contests. The Clarinet Trio received a I at league. Two people prepared solos for music festivals. John Janzen’s trumpet solo was awarded a II at league, and Susan Drassen received a II on her baritone solo at state festival.
