Steve Zimmer- man, Don Froese, Tom Balzer, v • .; • ... Athletics takes on a broader aspect than merely winning games or cheering the team. It has deeper and more significant importance to the spirit and life of a school. Qualities of sportsmanship, determination, loyalty, and initiative evolve from athletics that are building factors of strong character and sound conviction. Individuals with these qualities become stars not only among their friends, but also stars in society, in America, and in the world. They are the stars to which pos- terity can look for guidance. Included in the many branches of the athletic department are football, basketball, and track. Boosting these teams into the winner's circle are the Pep Club and cheerleaders. Inman High is proud of its fine sports department, proud of its victories and proud of the star athletes it produces. ■ GARY E, I DALE F. KENT NEUFELD GALEN REGEHR DENNIS SMITH BOB EPP ED THIESSEN KENNY WIENS RALPH KIMBLE DALE FRANZ To an outsider, sports mean games and excitement and cheering. But in a student's life, sports mean even more than that. They mean long hours of tiresome practice, high hopes and sometimes the lonely feeling of defeat; and also the joy of victory. To other students and to teachers, sports mean watching and rooting for good friends and working to show the best your school has to offer. Our team showed their best this year in the MKL. They went undefeated to win the MKL crown. The Teutons went to the Peabody District Tournament and placed second. Then to the Hillsboro Regionals, again to take second place in an exciting game that was played down to the last second. The Teutons deserve a lot of credit for the effort they put forth to achieve an unblemished league record. Congratulations to the team and the coaches for a wonderful and successful year. FRED NEUFELD DAVID NACHTIGAL KEITH NEUFELD DON FROESE Our boys at Inman have been very suc- cessful in all their track meets during the 1965-1966 school year. TWIRLERS The Inman High School Band, under the direc- tion of Mr. James Palmer, entertains during the football season, band concerts, parades and school programs. The enthusiasm at pep rallies, and bas- ketball games is bolstered by the addition of the pep band. During this past school year the band marched in four parades - State fair, Bethel College Homecom- ing, Lindsborg Svensk Hyllings Fest, and at May Day. The band made up of 62 members is led by Patsy Friesen, the drum majorette. The band presents an annual concert in late fall and in late spring, at which time the musical ac- complishments of the year are displayed. The band participated in an annual league festi- val at Haven. The band received a I - rating for their performance, and at the State Festival at Buh- ler they received a 1 rating. This play is about a young sailor home after two years in the Navy. Although his mother doesn't realize it Jim has grown up. He has to make a choice between his girlfriend, Marion, and his mother. He chooses Marion, and his mother realizes that he has to make his own decisions. The play was presented at the MKL Forensics Contest where it earned a II rating. Although a III rating was received in the District Forensics Contest, we must give a pat on the back to those who par- ticipated in this play. TEUTON TALES STAFF Under the supervision of Mrs. Gearhart, the Teuton Tales is published every two weeks. Elaine K. , editor, aided by a capable staff has produced a very interesting paper for our school. STANDING: Linda R., Janiece E., Mrs. Gearhart, Stan J., Connie L., Sharon T., Karla P. SITTING: Elaine K., Pamela E., Bennie O., Ruth P., Sherry S. , Linda T. DEBATE STANDING: Mr. Moulder, Jill H., Jody E., Patsy F., Vickie N., SITTING: Pam W. , Elaine K. , Pamela E., Stan J. Debate was entered into wholeheartedly by the mem- bers of the team; and under the supervision of Mr. Moulder, they won first place at the Fairfield Tournament. Other tournaments attended were: McPherson, Abilene, Winfield, and Bethel College. The ex- perienced debaters participated in the District Tournament at Ellsworth and took third in that tournament. The Novice team debated several times during the year, including the MKL Novice Tournament at Burrton. They placed fifth at this tournament. PREJUDICE In the early eighteen-hundreds, a law governing the .nheritance of property, stated that when a man dies his property lawfully comes into the possession of his next living male relative. In the case of Mr. Bennet's death, his estate, since his five children are all girls, will be passed on to his cousin, Mr. Collins. The fear of seeing her daughters left homeless follow ing their father's death, adds to the reasons for Mrs. Ben- net to eagerly push her daughters into a wealthy marriage, Strange things are happening! Brian O’Connor is the only one who knows the reason, for Brian is the confidante of the first and only lepre- chaun to visit the United States. He is here as the Envoy Minister of the Little People of Erin to pre- vent the building of a United States air- line landing strip on the property of the Little People. During the time he is in the U. S., he mischievous- ly manages to get friv- olous Miss Tottenhot happily married to the President of New World Airlines, Mr. Snitwitz. He finally achieves his mission by exerting more and more of the power of the Little People of Ireland. McGILLICUDDY McGOTHAM KAYETTE BANQUET SWING INTO SPRING The theme for the Mother-Daughter Banquet, presented by the Kayettes, was Swing into Spring. The auditorium was decorated with pastel streamers and a yellow canary. After grace was sung by the girls triple trio. President Delores Buller gave the welcome and Mrs. Walt Buller gave the response. Mrs. Ma- linda Nickel, guest speaker, spoke of the many ways of Swinging into Spring. The banquet was enjoyed by all. DOING TO LEARN The FFA Banquet, with its theme Doing to Learn , began with the opening ritual by the Chapter officers, led by Mike Nachtigal, Presi- dent. Following the dinner, Mr. Don Kimble made several awards to various FFA members. Two of these awards were to Gary Ediger, Chapter Star Farmer, and Dwight Goering, Star Green- hand. Mr. Harold A. Stones, Fort Hays Kansas State College, addressed the banquet on the topic Be in Demand. The banquet meeting was adjourned following the closing ritual by the chapter officers. FFA BANQUET s The Junior Class of Inman High School Presents om« §ncJiaulcfi S lerun In The Auditorium Saturday Evening April Thirtieth Nineteen Hundred Sixty-six A Shimmering waterfall greeted the guests of the Junior Class as they entered the crepe-paper-transformed High School Auditorium the evening of April 30, 1966. Delores Buller de- livers Salutatory address. CONGRATULATIONS! President Janiece Ediger re- ceives her diploma Inman’s Charm School Only her hairdresser knows? Thirty-nine rather tattered- looking freshmen tramped to school on a bright September morning. With peeled onions around their necks and tears in their eyes, the freshmen went to classes in their gay attire. That evening, they were re- quired to do several jobs under the careful supervision of the seniors. Everything from pinning on diapers to backcombing hair made the evening a successful one. It was topped off with refreshments for all, and it can be truthfully said that everyone had a good time. FRESHMAN INITIATION Marble-hunting Oh Goodie! A picture How s this pose? Mmmm! Chili! UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 448 M PS«r o CtMt INMAN, KANSAS 754 Kay 1966 Class Off. As students and staff of Inman High School we have again had new experiences this year. We have made new contacts with knowledge and the things that are. We have done some thinking about the future and the things that might be. We have made new friends. This yearbook will help to tie together what we have seen, what we have heard, and what we have learned into one great adventure. It will help to preserve the pleasant memories of our stay at Inman High. Sincere best wishes to all of you. Milton W.
