This dis- appointment is primarily because of our inability to devel- op any real consistancy of play. We had some definite as- sets and abilities which gave us a very respectable win and loss record. However, we were unable to eliminate some of the liabilities and ultimately our failure to reach the State Tournament can be attributed to this. This year's squad had unusual depth. The seventeen let- terwinners, which is an unusually large number, were all deserving of play and undorm in over all ability. Each had strengths and weaknesses, and one of the major problems was trying to ft them together into one jive that would be consistantly the most egective. Included in the number of lettermen were nine juniors. This number of young ball players indicates the excellent potential for next year's team. It may also hem to explain the lack of consistancy this year, because many of them played important roles. Coach Milroy Although the Rams lost two of their first four games, they came bounding back with a 15 win - 4 loss record which placed Ingraham fourth in the city and North Divi- sion Co-Champions. From the start of the season, the Rams chased the elusive Beavers, who had a slight edge on Ingraham, for possession of first place in the North Divi- sion. Barely defeated by Ballard once Q72-691, the Rams retaliated with a victory over the Beavers by the same three-point margin. Ingraham and Ballard now tied for first place in the North, brought their intense rivalry and competition to the floor in an extremely close play-off game in which Ballard was the victor. Playing for third and fourth places in the city, the Rams and the Garfield Bulldogs met once again on the athletic iield to battle for top places in sports competition. Unlike the Turkey Day game in which Ingraham was the victor, the Bulldogs defeated the Rams by a sizable margin in the game in the Coliseum. The highlight of the season was the spirited victory over Ballard. After changing leads back and forth with the Bea- vers the entire game, the Rams came on in the final min- utes ofthe game for a decisive 61-58 win over the Beavers. Despite the Rams attaining only fourth place in the city, the 1968 basketball squad is unquestionably one of the finest teams in the league and should be commended by the entire student body. Our fine season in Basketball this year only strengthens the belief that this is truly the year of the Ram.
