Due to the success of this experi- mental new program, the LAG system of learning has spread to other fields in Mathematics, Physi- cal Eucation, Spanish, and Biology. English Lit- erature, American Literature, and World Litera- ture have been studied in the three consecutive years in the Poetry, Drama, Novel, and Short Story phases. The LAG program of learning is designed to emphasize the individual's abilities and efforts to excel and master certain areas of study at his own speed. Helpful in the study of World Literature is a background ofvarious foreign languages and knowledge of their relative countries. Students can obtain this knowledge in our Foreign Lan- guage Department. French, Spanish, Latin, Japa- nese, and German courses are offered at all levels from basic skills to more advanced curriculum. The LAG system has been incorporated into the Spanish classes for the second year. Ingraham can also boast the president of the Washington State Latin Club as an Ingraham student, Bruce Pantley. Training for entrance into the business world is given inthe extensive program offered by the Business Education department. At the basic level are Geometry and Algebra courses in Algebra III, Trigonometry, and Advanced Math. For students interested in a more intensive study, Math Analysis and Calculus are offered at the Senior level. Mathematical knowledge is essential to excel in certain scientific tields. While Biology and Advanced Biology courses require little mathematical knowledge, Physics and Chemistry courses depend heavily on mathematics to function successfully. As well as the facts, figures, and formulas of the Chem Study program, Mr. McCain's stu- dents will long remember his sad, bad, and poor or the Berkenhead Drill . Mr. McMurtrey new to Ingraham in September, is the head of the Physics Department. In the large Biology Department, a form of LAG was initiated into the program. Studies of the peoples of the world and their problems through the ages are provided by the Social Studies Department. World History, U.S. History, Contemporary Problems, Economics, and Far East are some of the courses offered to Ingraham students. By learning about his government, its operations, policies, and ideals, the student can be an informed and active citizen. All for me? ,Aw lj K lg,-. It was a day perfectly tailored for disas- ter A dark and dreary, wet and wintry. And disaster is what it was, 44-13. The raging Rams ate up the Bulldogs for Thanksgiving with a performance that approached perfection. The triumph was no. 9 in succession this season and the llth since their most recent defeat. The Rams romped and stomped for an incredible 581 yards setting a Turkey Day scoring record. One of many for the day and season. This was Ingraham's Hrst title contest since the opening ofthe school in 1959. And an overwhelming success it was. Ram 's Record INGRAHAM LEADS NORTH INGRAHAM I2-SEALTHO A nine yard run and a pass interception accounted for the total points in Ingraham's quarter of the Jamboree, giving the North a 19-7 advantage, The final score was North 39 - South 20. They were held to a minus seven yards rush- ing through periods of sunshine and showers. The team was blessed with an exceptional group of younger runners. Four of the top tive varsity positions were filled by juniors. This dis- appointment is primarily because of our inability to devel- op any real consistancy of play. We had some definite as- sets and abilities which gave us a very respectable win and loss record. However, we were unable to eliminate some of the liabilities and ultimately our failure to reach the State Tournament can be attributed to this. This year's squad had unusual depth. The seventeen let- terwinners, which is an unusually large number, were all deserving of play and undorm in over all ability. Each had strengths and weaknesses, and one of the major problems was trying to ft them together into one jive that would be consistantly the most egective. Included in the number of lettermen were nine juniors. This number of young ball players indicates the excellent potential for next year's team. It may also hem to explain the lack of consistancy this year, because many of them played important roles. Coach Milroy Although the Rams lost two of their first four games, they came bounding back with a 15 win - 4 loss record which placed Ingraham fourth in the city and North Divi- sion Co-Champions. From the start of the season, the Rams chased the elusive Beavers, who had a slight edge on Ingraham, for possession of first place in the North Divi- sion. Barely defeated by Ballard once Q72-691, the Rams retaliated with a victory over the Beavers by the same three-point margin. Ingraham and Ballard now tied for first place in the North, brought their intense rivalry and competition to the floor in an extremely close play-off game in which Ballard was the victor. Playing for third and fourth places in the city, the Rams and the Garfield Bulldogs met once again on the athletic iield to battle for top places in sports competition. Unlike the Turkey Day game in which Ingraham was the victor, the Bulldogs defeated the Rams by a sizable margin in the game in the Coliseum. The highlight of the season was the spirited victory over Ballard. After changing leads back and forth with the Bea- vers the entire game, the Rams came on in the final min- utes ofthe game for a decisive 61-58 win over the Beavers. Despite the Rams attaining only fourth place in the city, the 1968 basketball squad is unquestionably one of the finest teams in the league and should be commended by the entire student body. Our fine season in Basketball this year only strengthens the belief that this is truly the year of the Ram. It now is composed of one board of control consisting of students as well as faculty advisors. Prior to this, there were four bodies of the gov- ernment: Executive Board, Senate, Representative Assembly, and Ad Council. Exec Board considered all bills passed by the Representative As- sembly and the Senate. Their main function was to organize student activi- ties, such as the magazine drive last November which raised 51500. The Clute-Plan, with new officers taking office in January, provides an oppor- tunity for the out-going ofiioers to give a thorough, beneficial orientation of each oiiice. During this time, the out-going ofiicers relate their leadership conference knowledge to the new officers, emphasizing the importance of quality leadership. Through the class officers, the council representatives, and the ten organizations represented, individuals collaborate with Student Government in an effort to promote a system which adapts to the changing needs and desires of the students. B.A. became significantly involved in student life. Under the supervision of Mr. Zeger, the semi-advisor, and Jay Hanseth, the president, the year was highlighted with what proved to be the greatest dance ever presented in In- graham. A combination light show and dance, complete with fog, enchanted everyone who attended f Ingraham students as well as guests from other schools. The Kansas Standardf, a psychedelic union band, kept the dance lively for the entire evening. It was a pleasant surprise when al- most one hundred people were turned away because of a capacity crowd. Thirteen of the orchestra members participated in the All-City High School Symphony and ten belonged to the All-State Orchestra. Both of these instrumental groups performed for the Music Educator's National Conference. The orchestra appeared in many programs throughout the year, such as the Fall, Winter, and Spring concerts, and the Christmas Program. They also performed at the All-City Orchestra Festival where they have consistently for the past live years reoeived the highest ratings possible. As a climax, Ingraham's orchestra was asked to play during Victoria's Spring Festival for the eighth successive year, a meritorious accomplishment in itself. We sincerely hope that you will like and be proud of your Glacier. This book was not only written as a record of highlights of events, a record of students, and a resume of school organiza- tions, but also as a book with a message for all students at the present time and in the future. Our theme of Bridges was incorporated into many concepts throughout the text . . . to symbolize the abyss of hatred and war, to symbolize friend- ship and parting, to symbolize a bridge with the present and a link to the future. Since high school is the major stepping- stone to adulthood, it is a message that should be read and contemplated by all students. None of this would have been possible without the help of many people. We give special thanks to the staff, Bruce Skelly for his many wonderful pictures, Mr. Bruce Clute, Jim Palm of American Yearbook for his help and interest, and Boldman Studios for their artistic and efficient photography and pa- tience.
