With two other teams favored to win, Rams soon disproved forecasts and were in the crowded first spot at mid-season. The first-round record was six wins, the lone loss being to Shoreline. Strengthened by optimism and powerful slugging and pitching, the team displaced the favorites and strengthened Ingraham's tradition of being a power in the Metro League.
