It is altogether appropriate that the theme The Search” has been selected for this year’s Green and White. It is in keeping with the ”49’er Spirit . Although the search in which the present 49’ers have participated had a different purpose from the one which took place in California one hundred years ago, it has, nevertheless, just as much significance. Your search has been for knowledge—for the establishment of goals -tor personal growth and development for the acquisition of positive attitudes and characteristics. It is our sincere hope that your high school has been and will continue to be helpful to you while you seek those things which will contribute to a more full and worthwhile life. Kenneth Huri.bert.

One hundred years ago there was a search for gold. The search is still on. Those pioneers tramping the hills wanted life and its satisfaction. They were sure gold would bring it. We too want life with its satisfactions. Our search is for friends, worthy books, sports, social activities, and finally a vocation that will bring satisfaction to ourselves and service to our community. H. Fred Heisner.
