Commaudiiig Officer Captain H.F. AMERAU JR. C0MM iNDimG Captain Amerau was bom in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended tlie U.S. Maval Academy and graduate school at Catholic University. Me is a graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College at Quantico, Virginia. Commissioned in 1965, Captain Amerau served aboard the USS LEARY (DD-879) and USS GRANT COUMTY (LST-1174). In January 1968, he was ordered to Vietnam as Officer-in-Charge of a Fast Patrol Craft (PCF) in the Mekong Delta. He later served as Weapons Officer aboard the USS FLOYD B. PARKS (DD-884) which saw gunline duty in Vietnam, and as Executive officer, USS TOWERS (DDG-9) Captain Amerau ' s personal decorations include the Silver Star Medal, Bronze Star Medal with Combat V , Meritorious Service Medal, Piavy Commendation Medal with Combat ' V, and the Purple Heart. His decorations also include two Presidential Unit Citations. Captain Amerau ' s most recent tour was as riaval aide to the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Washington, D.C.
