The team was very young and many boys were allowed to get experience this year. In all there were twenty lettermen. The scores of the games this year were as follows: Valley 2 8 Southeastern 6 Western 52 Southeastem 12 Roseville 3 5 Southeastern 0 N orthwestern 50 Southeastem 0 LaHarpe 0 Southeastern 18 Avon 19 Southeastern 26 Warsaw 3 '7 Southeastern 2 0 Astoria 26 Southeastem 20 Hamilton 34 Southeastern 14 Three seniors will leave the team this year. They are: Dick Cash, Bill Pollock and Perry Lotz. Cash, our right halfback, was named to WKAI'S All Regional team by the Sports Staff of the Station and made the All Con- ference team. He scored 40 points in the season. Bill Pollock was handicapped by knee injuries that kept him out of severalgames but still impressed varsity coaches and players enough to make the All Conference team at tackle. Perry botz was a defensive end and a offensive guard. He just missed making the All Conference team by a revote on a tie. Other lettermen and a little information about each is given below. Dick Walraven, a tackle, was handicap- ped by injuries, but improved and played very well and should be a great asset next year. Dick Pollock, an end, tried hard and improved during the season. Lyle Swearingen, a guard, was a tough boy, but only a sophomore. Danny Gray, an end, was a good pass receiver and is improving on defense. Dick Snowden, a QB, and just a fresh- man, was a terrific passer and a good runner. Rod Coker, a freshman, should become a very good end. Wayne Clemens, a tackle, should become very tough and aggressive. Gene Wilhelm, a center, was good defensively and could run with anyone and had a competitive spirit. Wayne Heaton, a tackle and guard, was a fine defensive player and a good blocker, He was injured forcing him to miss several games. Nelson Snowden, a FB, called plays and was a good blocker and team man. He had a bad leg all year, but ran well the last game. Rod Russell, a FB, kickoff specialist, and a reserve fullback, could play the line. Ray Frakes, a LHB, speedy scatback, who scored 68 points, was a fine pass receiver. Brad Vail and Bud Parker were our charm guards, who really surprised us on defense in our last three games. Bud Spring, captain of the B squad, played defensively on the varsity and was a good field general. Chuck Teel, a QB, was a powerful runner, and a good faker, Jerry Swearingen, an end, developed well on offense and had terrific spirit. The B-Squad played consistently good football and should help a lot next year. They won three games and lost three. The managers for football this year were Iack Baldner and Robert Parker.
