Joe was the only end the team had at this time, Sam Spring and NelsonSnowden got early injuries and Elmer Onion, the big full- back from Adair, was lost to the team with a foot injury after 4 games, for the rest of the season. Southeastern had the misfortune of starting against Warsaw, one of the strongest teams in the Conference, and the team took quite a beating but rebounded the next weekend to spill a strong Western Team 19-13. It was the first time since '46 that Southeastern had beaten Western, The next week Southeastern met an undefeated team Avon, and almost beat them. The score was 26- 19. Southeastern again came back to beat Mt, Sterling 26-0, Southeastern was beaten the rest of the way with their injury riddled team: but CICSPUC this f8CI we Placed IW0 men on the All-Conference team. Seniors who won't be around next year are: Eldon Dilworth, All-Conference guard and one of the best line- men in this area, Dilly was a real guard and hustler, Gean Heaton, who had the difficult task of being quarter- back on offense and end on defense, also made the All-Conference team. Gene was a topnotch defensive end an excellent passer, Elmer Onion, who was the team Captain, made honorable mention for All-Conference, Elmer's bull-like rushes were a picture to see and his loss, due to an injury, really hurt the team. Elmer would have certainly made A ll- Conference if the injury hadn't shown up: Marland Marshall, giant tackle, Richard Yaap, a starting end, and Bill Miller, a defensive tackle, will all be missing' when the piglskin hits the air next fall, Returning lettermen are: Juniors, Perry Lotz, Sam Spring, Bill Pollock, and Dick Cash, Sophomores: Ray Frakes, Ge ne Wilhelm, Nelson Snowden, and Wayne Clemens. Freshmen: Wayne Heaton and Danny Gray. Southeastern has the nucleus of a strong team and should do very wellnext season with the above boys return- ing and the following B Squad boys returning: Bud Spring, Dale Mullen, Jim Seitz, Dick Pollock, Morris Sow-- ers, Scott Teel, Harold Parker, Bob Parker, Chuck Teel, Lyle Swearingen, and Harry Mears, Southeastern lost just 6boys this year. The B'Squad beat Macomb,tied VIT, and lost to VIT. Look to next year's Eagles--they're going to be tough. The lettermen managers were Rodney Russell and Phil France.
