VARSITY TRACK Indio High School's Varsity track team has been league cham- pions for the last ten years and at press time were hoping for the championship again. Leading the Varsity team are such standouts as Louie Romero, CIF Frosh-Soph Champion in the Shot put, Gary Bruner, USAFF High School divi- sion decathlon champion: Jose Alvarez, outstanding distance star who qualified for CIF in cross country: Steve and Ron Nagata outstanding sprint and Marcus Hurlvurt outstanding Hurdlers and Jumpers. Other varsity athletes counted on for many points are Manuel Patino, Shot Put and Discus: Wimpy Jordan Sprintsg Keith Janes, Distances: Pedro Rodri- quez, Distances: Joe McMullen and Matt Garczynski, Middle Dis- tancesg Todd Gilligan, Mike Thompson and Scotty Webb, Hur- dlesg Ed Lambert, Mike O'Sul1i- van and Jerry Duchene, Triple Jumpg Brice Wilson, Sprints, Rocky Wilson, Pole Vault, Chris Tiger, Shot Put: Danny Gallegos, High Jumpg Tony Morgan Dis- tancesg and Bell Trempe, Hur- dles, Middle Distanceg and David Woods, Sprints. The Frosh-Soph Team was led by Ernesto Juarez, Nick Alatorre, Chris Carletto, Erik Moller, Luis Terrones, Kevin Farrington, Kelly James, Phil Headland, Mike Cardenas, Bobby Bustamonte, Johnny Morgan, Ruben Salarzano, David Jones, James Lovell, Matt Johnson, Sid Dutcher, Curtis Col- lins, Ruben Rodriquiz, and many others.
