VARSITY FOOTBALL The IHS football team under new head football mentor Ed Peasley and his assistants Greg Dunn, Chuck Drinkworth, Ed Roze and Dave Riveness had a season to be remembered. With the players as well as the coaches learning a new sys- tem, Indio got off to a slow start, losing its first four games. After the preseason the team changed completely and won four in a row, beating Brawley, Palo Verde, El Centro and Calexico. All this leading up to the showdown with cross town rival Coachella. Both teams, undefeated in league play, met at the CV stadium with Indio coming out on the short end. Indio finished second in league play and earned the right to go to the CIF playoffs where they met San Dimas. Indio finished with a 4-6 sea- son won-loss record and 4-1 record in league play. Indio has some very talented underclass- men and the future looks bright for the coming season. Athletics
