IIA. was the second largest in the state this year with membership ol sixty boys. One hundred per cent ot the Vocational -Xgriculture class belong to this organization. l:ach boy must have a satisfactory project program. Charles Amos and Donald Baughman were honored with the Iowa liarmer Degree last year for their outstanding work in agriculture. The Chapter received four first place or C-old Emblem awards at the District lf. li. A. contests in Parliamentary Procedure. Chapter Program Extemporaneous Speaking and Chapters' Secretary's book. At the State contests the Chapter Program contest presented hy Fred llastie and Donald Baughman won Gold Emblem or top rating and a S50 award. The Parliamentary Procedure placed second and Extemporaneous Speaking third at the state contest. The chapter received a Superior rating in the State Soils Conservation Contest. Cooperative activities include both service and money-making projects. These are mixing and selling mineral selling farm garden seeds, owning cooperatively three gilts farmed out to members. corn and popcorn plots testing seed for farmers, eradication of rodents and grubs and a mastitis control campaign. From the money made from these projects ten of the li.lf.A. members and the instructor took a five-day camping trip through the Black Hills region of South Dakota and back through Nebraska. Other recreational and social activities were a Hay Ride' with the F. H.A. girls. movies speakers and F. F, A. basketball games with neighboring chapters. U .Charles Amos was the, winner of the DeKalb Agricultural Accomplishment award which is given to the outstanding senior agriculture student.
