Through her ability as a teacher and dedication to the music program, the music department at Indianola Acad- emy has received national recognition and has become a symbol of music excellence. Miss Young has become more than a teacher at Indianola Academy: she is an intimate Christian friend and advisor to all whom she teaches. For her many musical accomplishments at Indianola Academy - Broadway musicals and reviews, concerts, recordings, and outstanding programs - and for her example of Christian devotion and dedication to music excel- lence, we proudly dedicate the 1976 COLONEL'S DIARY to Miss Grace Young. 4 DEDICATION We of the COLONEL'S DIARY staff dedicate the 1976 yearbook to Mrs. Mary Alice Black, warmly known by her students as Momma Black, in appreciation for her friendship and academic assistance during the six and one half years she has taught at Indianola Academy. Not only has Mrs. Black lived up to the appellation of Momma Black” in her concern for and interest in her students, but she has also promoted the ideals of integrity and achievement set forth in our Indianola Academy motto. Her standards of academic excellence have permeated her classroom instruction and have been recognized by both students and faculty. In 1971 and 1974 the Star Students selected her as the Star Teacher. For her many contributions to Indianola Academy and the high standards of excellence which she has set, we gratefully dedicate this yearbook to our teacher and friend, Mrs. Black. 5 9 Indianola Educational Foundation Directors SEATED: Mrs. Guy Robinson.
