The first year at the Muncie Center for Medical Education proved to be a challenging, yet enjoyable, experience for the nineteen students who participated. Though made up of individuals, the class performed as one within the realm of academics as well as extracurricular activities. Through the guidance of our admirable director, Dr. Anthony Dowell, our equally admirable, but definitely macho, assistant director, Dr. Duane Eddy, and our innocent, yet sensual, secretary, Ms. Jane Wiley, we learned the basic sciences with great fortitude and vigor. Of course, frequent visits to local drinking establishments helped to keep our collective noses to the grindstone, as they say. But perhaps the greatest reward from MCME that year was the establishment of nineteen close friendships; friendships that will hopefully continue for a long time in the future.
