An Elementary Department student gains knowledge in the materials and methods needed to teach children of elementary school age. He reaches the peak of his college career during his student teaching days where he applies the methods he has learned. The Elementary Club is afTiliated with the Association for Childhood Education International. Composed of representatives from each class and the club officers, the ACE council helps outline club activities. This year the club held a Get Acquainted Party for freshmen and a Christmas party, compiled student directories and sponsored professional meetings. The ofFicers are Peggy Kracht, President; Shirley Ort, Vice-President; Joan Ditmar, Secretary; and Lois Ward, Treasurer. Anyone in these six departments, English and Speech, Foreign Languages, Geog- raphy, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, is automatically a member of our organization. Besides giving us a chance to associate socially, this club also fosters the exchange of ideas that will be of professional value to us. We feel these activities help us to unify our division.
