ummer Opera Summers heat didn't come L-lose to matching the warmth of the Summer Opera. In july there was the presentation of the eomie opera Albert Herring in East Hall fwhere things would get much hotter, eventunllyj. The opera was a farce On English village life .it the turn of the century. And Albert Herring him4 self turns out to he the only person chaste enough to be May Queen, er-uh, King. Later in july and early August there were four spectacular outdoor productions of Arrigio Boitos MeHstofele. Erecting the world's largest outdoor stage in Memorial Stadium Cfittingly, the site of the XVorld's Greatest College KVA-ekendl the company proceeded to depict the classic tale of Faust, who sells his soul to the devil. but eventually returns to the heavenly fold. Bonsted hy ahle directing, the colorful extravnganva drew nightly crowds of thousands.
