Faculty Members Bid Farewell Dr. Ethel Closson Smith, Professor of Music, retired from her tenure at Indiana State in the Spring of 1987 after serving 17 years. Smith bid farewell to her students and colleagues with a vocal performance followed by a reception. She received her Doctorate in Music from Indiana Universi- ty. Smith completed her Master's Degree at Temple University in Philadelphia. Her teaching experience began at the Private Voice Studio in Philadelphia where she taught voice. She then went on to become an Assistant Professor of Music at Eastern Baptist College. Smith's professional involvement and commitment were un- surpassed. Among her most notable accomplishments were consulting positions with the National Council of the Metro- politician Opera and the Central Opera Service in New York City.
