Union Board continued to expand their activity program as they sponsored the PRESIDENT'S BALL in September. The dance, honoring President and Mrs. Rankin, was warm with a Southern atmosphere as fountains flowed and gracious southern beauties moved among the blossoming magnolias. A first forthe university, the formal affair impressively recognized the Rankins. A committee member conferred with chairman Kay Schultz, 26 CAMPUS CARNIVAL proved sticky as traces of caramel apples and Cotton candy mixed with balloon-shaving cream and whipped pies. Hours of booth constructing and pennant streaming transformed the quad into a brilliant midway bustling with soliciting cronies and rosy-cheekecl clowns Crowds pushed through lines to chance the winning ol a brag button or bar-girl garter.
