3 re en MOHOHI en as Qi Dec. 7-The next high spot was when the team and band dropped in on the City of Basketeers -Fort Wayne, and played the North Side Redskins. The game proved to be rough but by skillful diplomacy we man- aged to get out without an escort of grey vehicles in mourning. At any rate, they didn't bluff us with their Roman tactics, as we actually stole a hard fought game to the tune of 35-21. The boys were sure treated royal while in Fort Wayne. Dec. 13- Plenty hot was no name for the Home squad when they played the Greenwood Woodsmen on the Home floor. Superior basket shoot- ing and a strong defense enabled the Home team to snow thier opponent under by a 47-27 score. The second team turned in a neat victory by defeating Greenwood seconds 43-15 in the curtain raiser. Dec. 20-Nineveh was the victim of a fast exhibition of the Home squad when they fell before them by a 53-25 score. The Home seconds defeaited Hopewell seconds, 24-19 in the curtain raiser. Jan. 3-Oh my, Ben Davis repeated their former tactics by defeating the Home crew, 36-31. This was the second defeat of the season for the Home squad but was lost in a game replete with thrills and hard-fought to the finish. The Home seconds lost a beautiful game to Ben Davis seconds, 6-8 in the preliminary. Jan. 4-10-We had games scheduled with the Silent Hoosiers and our friendly rivals of the Knightstown Soldiers and Sailors Home but due to the epidemic of spinal meningitis and the popularity of the measles the games were cancelled. Jan. 24-Our next game was scheduled with the Center Grove Maple Leaves but the game was cancelled in respect to Amador Wyrick, a member of our school board, who was drowned. Jan. 31-Nineveh visited our fair city again but departed on the short end of a 37-17 score. Utterback, the prodigal son and a veteran of last year's team, played his first game of the season. The game proved to be interesting as the Home team opened up their full bag of tricks. Feb. 1-Whiteland was the next victim of the Home crew, playing them on the Home floor. The game was filled with thrills and vvhs not won until thet gun shot, the Home leading, 33-26. The Home seconds defeated White- land second in the preliminary, 18-14. Feb. 7-The Hopewell netters lost a close decision to the Home court caperers, on the Franklin floor, 29-27. Hopewell was always threatening and the game was only decided by an overtime and a last minute drive by the Home netters. The Home seconds won a brilliant victory from Hope- well seconds 26-14 in the curtain-raiser. Feb. 15-Th-e Home five kept up its winning streak by defeating their opponent of the initial game of the season, Union. The boys were plenty hot, throwing the pill from every angle of the floor, enabling them to win, 47-26. The Home seconds defeated Union in the curtain raiser, 18-16. QQDPC5 'WO QCA iii l

4 PG DD C16 OC: WO E tl 4' 1 fr 16320 .1 A Review ofthe Basket Ball Season Although this year's team was not expected to equal the record set by last year's team, they upset the dope-bucket, making the best record of any team in the history of the Indiana Masonic Home High School by winning fourteen out of sixteen games. Much of the credit is due to the untiring efforts of our coach, Dale Jamison, who has helped to make the seventh page of our basket ball history the best that has yet been written. The school supported the team and they did their best. The cheering was very good, thanks to the splendid work of Laura Duffy. Oct. 25-The Home basket ball squad started the season off by defeat- ing Union in a double header. Although it was the initial game for four members of the first five, they handled themselves like veterans, defeating Union 30-25. In the preliminary game the Home seconds defeated Union seconds 29-12. Nov. 1-The next victim to meet defeat at the hands of the Home machine was the Clark crew 28-19. Although the Home team was handi- capped by a small floor they made up for it by a few colorful shots and a strong defense. Nov. 2-The Home team continued their winning streak by defeating the tall and husky Avon five, who tripped and fell to the tune of a 39-27 score. It was a game replete with thrills and hard-fought to the finish. This game showed what the boys had in them as the team swung into mid- season form. Nov. 8-Although the Home team got a delayed start they finally got going, playing a real brand of ball and leaving Beech Grove on the short end of a 38-24 victory. The game was featured by many long colorful shots by both teams. The second team scored another victory in the preliminary by defeating Beech Grove seconds, 23-5. Nov. 9-After breaking down the stubborn defense of our second team with a barrage of baskets and some clever passing, the Franklin seconds won a fast, hard-fought 38-15 victory. Nov. 22-Oh, at last our Waterloo capitulated us. Ben Davis romped us on the Bridgeport floor. We played with hard luck, the boys were simply off on shooting and the defense was a bit ragged. Enough saidg Ben Davis won, 50-27. The seconds defeated the B-en Davis seconds 20-11, in the curtain raiser. Nov. 23-The squad visited Hope, playing them in the Petersville gym which was somewhat abbreviated. Although we won 23-18, we had an awful time trying to find adequate space to move in. The second team won over the Hope seconds by defeating them in the last seconds of play, 22-1'8. Nov. 27-Trafalgar was an easy victim for the Home crew, fighting hard aided them in coming as close as they did. Home won, 75-25.

QGDFC3 OC.: 'WO E gl 1' Pi QD MIWLQOI Q if Q l Feb. 21-The Home crew ended up the season in fine style by turning in a double victory over the Clark aggregation. Although Clark kept up the first half, the boys got hot the second half, defeating them, 55-31. The second team defeated Clark seconds, 31-15. The team did remarkably well in both the County and Sectional tourna- ments. In the County Tournament they defeated Trafalgar, only to be elim- inated by Edinburg in the semi-finals. In the Sectional Tournament, the Home team defeated Greenwood by a good margin but presumably lost to Center Grove by an error on the part of an official. Much interest and enthusiasm was manifested during the inter-class basket ball tournament, held during the week of March 24-28. The first game was played on Thursday afternoon when the Sophomores romped over the Freshmen by a 34--14 score. Although the score was a one-sided affair the game proved to be interesting with plenty of fight exhibited by both teams. The Seniors were defeated by the Juniors, 36-9, in the second game of the tournament which was held on Friday afternoon. With little opposition the Juniors were able to make drive after drive down the floor which proved to be very effective in piling up a healthy lead. The final game was played Monday evening to decide the championship of the school. The Juniors defeated the Sophomores by a marginal score of 21-17. The game throughout manifested a battle of the century. The score was knotted many times only to be broken by the constant drive of the Juniors. It was not until the last two minutes of play that the game was safely put away. The Seniors won the consolation game from the Freshmen, 22-7. The Juniors hold the championship for the year 1930. LAURA WARNER DUFFY- Duff As yell leader for the past school year, she has given wonderful sup- port to the team and the school. She is to be congratulated upon her fine work and the fine school spirit she aroused during the basket ball season.
