The course offered at Indiana Technical College makes pos- sible a career in design and production of all types of aircraft, the development of airports, experi- mental development and sales. Aeronautical subjects are attempted only after the student is well grounded in the fundamentals of mathematics, engineering drawing and general science. This sequence of subjects carries the stu- dent logically and smoothly upward through gen- eral engineering requisites into aeronautical prob- lems and graduation. The club is comprised of actors and radio entertainers as well as an orchestra and a Hawaiian musical group. Coach Mendenhall came to Tech with an excellent reputation as a h-ligh School Coach and as Coach for the profes- sional Fort Wayne Zollners. In this first season the improvements that Mendenhall made in the athletic department have been phenomenal. Although we didn ' t win as many basketball games as we would have liked, the percentage over last season has improved. Our players were good but lacked experience. But watch out next year. Since its origination in the Fall of 1952 Tech ' s soccer team, relatively, has been one of Tech ' s most successful athletic groups. The players are almost exclusively from foreign countries. Intercollegiate games have been played with Indiana University and Purdue University with good results for Tech. More intercollegiate games are now being scheduled. 84 soccer Action at the Bloomington Campus of the University of Indiana. Soccer is fast becoming one of the most popular sports at Tech. 85 Although Tech ' s Tennis Team only broke into the winners column twice this season, their show- ing was impressive over such top caliber oppo- nents. Captain of the team this year as he was last year was Virq Gardinier from the Aero Dept. This spring ' s team did much better than last years in that every member of the team has a win to his credit. Those with the most wins were Dalgleish, Powe, hiemminger, and Boucher all with three wins apiece. The team finished its eight game schedule with a 2-6 record. The ten teams participating all had their up- sets, and each did its share of up-setting before the seven- months season ended. Another game ended in a tie at the end of 13 innings, hlowever, Coach Mendenhall ' s boys enjoyed occasional sunshine with a display of diamond wizardry. Among nota- ble accomplishments, a one-hitter pitched by Gladleux and the long ball hit by Bill Deltch were the most impressive of the season.
