Student Publications Presents . . The '57 L'INDlEN I d J nt High School I d Pennsylvania THOMAS SMITH EDITOR JUDY LARSON BUSINESS MANAGER Within the pages of L'lndien '57 are recorded the highlights and other events of the 1956-1957 school year. It was a good year. Indiana Joint High School met with success in the classroom as well as on the playing field. Our students excelled in academic subiects as well as in competitive and in- tramural sports. All of our students from the be- ginning seventh graders to the graduating seniors contributed in their own special way to make this school term the memorable experience it has been. It is hoped that L'lndien '57 has captured in pictures and words those events and activities that you would like to recall as the years go by. Seniors .... Page 12 Underclassmen .... Every student within the school has the opportunity to participate in almost any type of co-curricular activity in which he and a few others express an interest. This opportunity to engage in these activities provides real-life situations and gives training in various fields that can not be duplicated in the classroom. The extent to which a student takes advantage of this program is entirely his own choosing. He may participate as he wishes. Of course he is encouraged to make profitable use of this impor- tant side of his high school train- ing. Following is a resume of most of the co-curricular activities. 72 414 V The newly formed linguists Club sponsored an International Night Dance. Sports at Indiana Joint High School means more than the eleven men seen in the weekly football contest or the five men on the basketball court. Sports means more than the slapping of a mat by the wrest- ling referee . . . more than the de serted stands of a track meet. It is the aim of our sporting ac- tivities to provide opportunities for all students to compete at their own level. With this in mind In- diana Joint High School has a varied intramural program as well as an extensive interscholas- tic schedule. This year the teams that rep- resent IJHS gave us much to cheer about. Our teams were of Cham pionship form. Our large intramural program gave active outlets for both boys and girls. 7 V VARSITY FOOTBALL RECORD Opp. Indiana Leechburg 6 I3 Kittanning 7 20 Vandergritt I8 6 North Cambria O 6 Punxsutawney O 9 Blairsville 0 20 Westmont 6 I9 Central Cambria O 27 DuBois I2 I9 49 I39 Won 8 Lost I Tied 0 JUNIOR VARSITY RECORD Opp. Indiana Homer City 6 0 Central Cambria O 6 Punxsutawney O I4 United Joint I2 I2 Purchase Line 0 I3 I8 45 Won 3 Lost I Tied I George McCreary evades two Punxsutawney tacklers and skirts right end for an eleven yard gain.
