Rarely is the library empty-here we find a typical study hall-with everyone hard l?l at work L'INDIEN LIKED THE QUIETNESS OF THE The library, center of much of the scholastic activity at Indiana Joint High School, serves the students as a place to study, read, or iust browse. Mrs. Margaret Derwart and the stu- dent Library Club act as supervisors, check books, keep the library clean and neat, and act as aides to students hunting information. Their work- room is one of the sections of the li- brary, the others are a study hall cen- ter, a reference room and a confer- ence room. The library also serves as a meeting place for the faculty and has even doubled as a stage for the Sendracs when needed. 9 Zihfary Librarian Mrs, Margaret Derwart supervises two Library Club members.

His work was more advanced than theirs, but he could appreciate their first brushes with Latin verbs, square roots, and power tools. L'lndien joined them in their heated discussions in Student Council and in the lunch line, and their enthusiasm fired his own. They were the frozen, cheering football fans, the people who bought his Varsity I Night tickets, and the appreciative audience at the Senior Class Play. They surprised him with their own undefeated football teams, almost lost in the blaze of the Varsity's. L'lndien felt rather ancient when he saw them dancing with their first dates at the Shamrock Shuffle, or to rock 'n roll records at the Student Council record hop. His turn came for clapping, too, on such occa- sions as the Junior Band and Choral Concert.
