Indian River Second Home for Students Each day for a week a familiar bell signaled the beginning of another day's work at Indian River. From 8:50 A.M. to 3:07 P.M. minds ticked away during the fifty minute class periods which allowed the students to receive an education. Customarily, class periods were seldom interrupted other than for lunch periods, which meant that extra-curricular activities had to be pursued before or after school. In addition to offering a curricu- lum to college-bound students, In- dian River offered several courses that gave the students skills for employment during and after high school. Such programs that taught marketable skills were Distributive Education and Industrial Coopera- tive Training. Likewise for students who wished to pursue a business career, courses in typing and gen- eral business were offered. Other courses of interest were of- fered at Indian River. Courses in band, chorus, drama, humanities, art and communications helped the students to develop a greater aesthetic appreciation of life. Academic life at Indian River was so filled with worth while challenges that the graduates con- tinue to believe that they are pre- pared to make their DREAMS COME TRUE.
