Text from Pages 1 - 144 of the 1976 volume:

Ojequack Jndian River Philadelphia, JH. I . Volume X V 1975-1976 Together Nothing is done better Zhan when it’s done together You wait so patiently for that stillness you know so well, to evade. It softly creeps in just as you begin to wonder whether it was all worth it; whether it was worth all the disappointed faces, and all the empty spaces and the lonely feelings that are tagged on to the losses that once seemed the end of the world..... and then you get the rewarding smiles and thank you's and signs of appreciation which make you want to throw away the pain that once was, But you can’t. You can never forget the pain no matter how hard they try to ice it over with their candy-coated words; But it’s not long before you see that their words and tears, through time, have begun to erode that barrier that you’ve built around yourself for protection Besides, you’re growing up you’re finally beginning to realize that you can no longer make things happen by yourself You need them. You need them to transform all those dreams into realities and you know that only through them are these realities possible. Zoget her you can do it. Zogether we have done it. 3 7 8 9 I. Each separate Yet part of a whole As are we. Alone in our lives But sharing them too. The sorrows, the loving. I’ve lived them with you. Together we've shared Both our laughter and tears. We’ve learned and we’ve changed In these few short years. Together we’ve spent time Grown close: we are friends. Now our life together Must draw to its ends. These times soon will pass. But the memories stay Of our being together And sharing each day. What I can say is that this has been a wonderful and unforgettable ex- perience, because I have had the opportunity to meet wonderful people every- where. I will never forget the friendship and cordiality I found here in the community of Philadelphia, in the various organizations and above all at IRCS. Indian River offered to me the opportunity to study new subjects and practice sports we don’t have in my country. But even more important has been the friendship I found with the stu- dents and teachers at IRCS. You have made my year very enjoyable. In particular I would like to say a very special thank you to my Ameri- can family, Mr. and Mrs. Fredenburg, who hosted me in their home and con- sidered me as their son, and thank you to all of those who worked in the AFS, permitting me to live this great and unique experience in the United States. We need the AFS, because I’m convinced that this is the best way to know new people, develop new friendships and fraternity between different countries. Thank you for everything you have offered to me. If any of you visit Italy, please be sure to stop in Milano and don’t hesi- tate to call me. I will be very happy to see you again.
