Class History Five years ago we entered a very frightening new school but soon we found that centralization was the greatest. We struggled through our first years of high school, making new friends and finding our place in school sooiety until class activities began in our junior year. With the aid of Mrs. Gilmore, we held a successful paper drive and later produced High Sohool Hero. In the spring we ordered our senior pictures and received our rings. In October of our senior year, with the welcome assistance of Mrs. MaoAllister, we launched a profit- able magazine campaign and held our play, The Unguided Miss , which proved to be very successful. Shortly after, we started work on our yearbook. We hopefully look forward to the future. LMA j ATEd A fair river of the Northland Gladly' gave to us our name. And as time reoords our history. We will honor it with fame. While the river flows forever. On the hill we'll proudly stand; We will sing of our devotion And allegiance, hand in hand. Brightly bums the lamp of knowledge; From the shadows we emerge To absorb its rays of wisdom— At its fount we will converge. Though its brillianoe sometimes blinds us. We will not have tried in vain. For the strength of our foundation Is the knowledge we will gain. As our deeds become our legends. You will hear of our renown. Harken, now, each generation. Add new glory to our crown1 We are planting our traditions; You defend them valiantly. Hand in hand, we are united. Magdalina Diria Chavarria Ruix, was bom 17 years ago, on May 25, 1945 in Hatillo, Costa Rica, a little town of Sta Cruz I live with my father, mother, three brothers and one sister I have found going to school in the United States 8 new and exciting experience At home my school year begins on March 5 and closes the 25th of November. We have school six days a week and have nine periods each day In my school there are 665 students in grades 7-11 We have no study halls, no cafeteria, no dental hygenist and no typing or other commercial subjects, and no school buses. I ride my bike to school ss do many boys end girls. We have no class rings or pins, and no yearbook. Al- though we do have sports, we have no cheerleaders. My favorite sports are soccer, swimming, basketball and volleyball. The subjects I was studying this year when I left home ares Castilian (Spanish), English, mathematics, physics, geography and history of Costa Rica, psychology, chemistry, biology, French, religion, contemporary history, universal literature, civic education and astronomy. I find many differences in respect to our school. I think the study here is easy, but for me it is hard because of my difficulties with your language. I like this school very muoh; the teaohers and students are very nice. I am very happy here because all the people are very friendly. Also th Fullington family have been very hospitable. I will hate to leave. When I return to Costa Rica I will tell the people what a wonderful country this is and what fine friends I have found here. 32 Row 1 W. Deoker, F. Briant, L. Bartlett, T.
