BASEBALL Indian Hills 1976 baseball season was an extremely successful one. Coach Pat Daugherty's Golden Falcons won the Sub-Regional and Regional Championships. They were also runners-up in the North Central District Championships, missing a World Series berth by one game. The Birds won a State record 45 games while losing only 13. In addition to the other honors the Indian Hills Club was also Iowa Junior College Conference Champion. Dave Froehlich, RHP from Mandan, N.D., was an all-region and all-district first team pick as was John Mahoney, Soph. shortstop from Des Moines. It was also a year that saw Falcon Coach Pat Daugherty win his 300th game during the 10 years he's been the Falcons' Coach. The Falcons won game number 300 on April 10th at North Iowa. The Club started their Spring Season with their Annual Southern trip to New Orleans on March 21. The home season opened on April 2nd, and the string finally ran out on the Falcons Mike Fowler demonstrates batting technique to Tom La Placa. T -Z. - X A ' , . BASKETBALL After a very successful recruiting year, the Golden Falcons experienced a much improved season over 1974-75. With the leadership of Steve Kaiser and Rod English, the Falcons finished with 14 wins, and 13 losses. Although this year's team was inexperienced, we made up for it through desire, hustle and the will to win. Many freshmen emerged as players to watch next year. Those that will be returning are as follows: Bruce Smith, 1462 points-263 reboundsl, George Marshall, 1461 points-299 reboundsl, Rick Schiller, 1175 points-118 reboundsl, and Dave Warden, 1170 points-37 reboundsl. These along with sophomores-to-be Andy Long and Crae Geist, and the new freshmen, promise to make the Introducing the 1975-78 Golden Falcons. 1976-77 edition of the Golden Falcons very exciting. Coach Jim Dinsdale has strengthened the schedule to make it as attractive as possible by playing the best competi- tion available, and he believes the Falcons regional crown will come this winter.
