-RICK UPCHURCH Receiving an honor as All-American for a first-year player was a first ever at IHCC. Other honors for Rick, a native of Toledo, Ohio, were lst team All-Conference running back by both the coaches and Register polls. He was also included in the national stand-- ings. Rick was fifth in individual total of- fense and was seventh in individual scoring with 15 touchdowns for a total of 90 points In nine games, and a total of 160 plays, he ran for 1,171 yards rushing and caught for 358 yards-a total of 1,529 yards. He was also sixth in individual rushing. Congratula- tions to Rick on a great season.

SEPT. 11-NEO, 44-IHCC, 25-NEO came into the game ranked 2nd, and a game already under their belts against 14th ranked Iowa Central. IHCC went into half time leading 25-14. Rick Upchurch, running back, scored three touchdowns. Maybe IHCC lost, but NEO's coach reported that he had 8 boys in- jured and lost 2 of them for the season. The injuries proved hazardous to their team, as they ended the season ranked 12th, just one ahead of the Falcons. SEPT. 18-IHCC, 7-Iowa Lakes, O-The Wolves of Iowa Lakes came down and gave IHCC a good game in the rain and cold. Up- church scored the only touchdown. The Fal- con defense also held them to only 85 total yards throughout the entire game. SEPT. 25-Wilbur Wright, 19-IHCC, 18-With the help of the officials, Wright JC was able to defeat the Falcons. We played them on a mud- soaked field without an electric scoreboard or clock, both destroyed during a riot. The Fal- cons were mighty lucky to leave Chicago with their shirts still on their backs. OCT. 2-IHCC, 0-Waldorf JC, O-With the loss of key players, the Falcons and Waldorf fought to a deadlock. The Falcons record now became 1-0-1 in the Conference, while their record overall was 1-2-1. OCT. 9-IHCC, 13-Iowa Central, 6-The Fal- cons started an uphill climb by beating 14th ranked Iowa Central on Homecoming.
