We enjoy it here for what short time in our lives that we attend school. Life is attending school everyday try¬ ing to pass all our classes, running in the halls, yelling with our friends, and being a part of our school. Every school has the same opportuni¬ ties as 1C but, we here at 1C, make the best of what we have and are proud to be a part of it. Who should I ask out this weekend? Different Views of 1C Anita Jessee, a constant nap snatcher, takes a snooze during a lull m work on the yearbook. - Two seniors of the great class of ' 73 Danny Ronnie Mathews stops in the yearbook work room to look at pictures. Brenda Smith shouldn ' t you be in class now? Lynn Conner didn ' t want her picture taken, but we did anyway. During lunch hour Sherry Gregory and Cathy Anderson sit on mats in the gym. Tim Butler grand slams the ball back to Mike Piper Wise and J. C. Hogue fiTTv ■fll% t ■' David Johnson and Ray Butner of the Just Us band. Mike Weaver, one of the many participants of the science fair, wins a ribbon. Young Farmers, bottom row, left to right; Jackie Bradley, Bettye Lou Park, Donna Roberts, Marjorie Collett, Carolyn Clark, Sandy Mudd, Linda Butler. Second row; Jim Bradley, Joe Park, Bill Roberts, Steve Collett, Jim Clark, Kenny Mudd, Brian Butler. Not present Dale and Jacque Coy. Jim Reed, Tim Treece play and sing for the Just Us band. The End of Another Year ACADEMICS t M 1 Students Learn Language Miss Beckman gives a quick look at the grade book Brenda looking puzzled over report card in Mrs. Ditmars junior English Class LuAnne poses a typical question in Mrs. Haase ' s US History class. Miss Weaver tries to explain a perplexing prob lem to Carol. H t 0 • III • • , It • • • III • II Betty seems to be satisfied. Latin students admiring relics from other countries. Vliss Vilet checks on her students ' pronuncia¬ tion. Culture Shakespeare, Poe, Bryant, Browning; nouns, verbs, adjectives. If any of this doesn ' t sound familiar, someone has been sleeping through English class. The de¬ partment has a staff of six teachers: Mrs. Ditmars, Miss Vilet, Mrs. Stafford, and this year it has added three new teachers: Miss Weaver, Miss Beckman, and Mrs. Haase. Language at 1C is geared not only for college-bound students but also for those students who are interested in learning languages and cultures other than our own. 1C expands the language arts pro¬ gram offering Latin, Spanish, and French to its students. Mrs. Stafford tries to explain the structure of the French language to Paula. The World of Math Business Mrs. Swearingen shows Bobby his grades. A new arrival in the Business Dept, this year is Mrs. Spilker. The Business classes took trips to the Indiana National bank and to a court trial. There are no new teachers in math, but for those who haven ' t taken it the math is new and incidentally it ' s also hard. Connie Weddle and Cathy Hicks in 1-Lab. Mr. McNeely, famous storyteller. Algebra teacher. Mrs. Spilker keeps an eye on her General Busi¬ ness class. Mrs. Woods typing teacher. One of the projects in shop is taking shape courtesy of Bruce Ford. Surprised by the camera, Mr.Sieboldt still con¬ tinues his work. Layout, Shaping, Growing, Expanding Knowledge The Ag Dept, does plowing, planting, growing crops, and helping farmers of the community. In shop you learn how to craft wood into useful objects such as lamps. Drafting teaches layout of plans for houses and machinery. George Zupancic is caught working. Will won¬ ders never cease! John Webb gets his start in politics by holding the crowd spellbound. What crowd? Not realizing he is caught by the camera Ted Hogue works on. Learn of the World Through Science and I History Mr. Hoagland, the gov ' t teacher, watches his study hall chess group. A normal Mr. Harmon history class; down to earth and interesting. Kevin Logan has some questions of his own for Mr. Wagoner in Biology class. Students cluster around Mr. Heckman seeking answers to difficult questions in science. Katie Teeters is caught by surprise as she goes Ron Esselborn displays a mask he made in art. into Mr. Zent ' s office. Talents Luanne Coy plays the piano for Miss Snell. Mr. Harmon and Mr. Hoagland try to give students a look at the world as viewed through history and the news. Mr. Heckman and Mr. Wagoner give us a look at the world through a microscope. Much can be learned in either field if the stu¬ dent is willing. Home Ec., Music, and Arts Crafts may not seem to have anything in com¬ mon but they do. Each one is an art. Many people who try cooking or sewing and just can ' t boil water or sew a seam know that there ' s more than meets the eye to Home Ec. The same goes for play¬ ing a musical instrument or singing with¬ out hurting the eardrums of others. And as for Art anyone can draw, but some just can ' t get beyond stick figures. Lynn Conner and Karen Childers whip up something good in Miss Settles senior Home Ec. class. Some artwork done in Mrs. Bray ' s classes. Brings Out Your Creative Give the Body a Workout I i Mrs. Newton ' s sophomore P.E. class gets a good workout playing dodge ball. Mr. Anthony hands out grade cards in his health class. Greg Raley, J. C. Hogue, and Mike Richey work out on the weight machine. Mr. Welch ' s class takes their turns at the mat Mark Miller and Mr. Branham talk during a relaxed moment in health. Mr. Sichting and Mrs. Stafford portray the way they see the students; complete with yo yos. Mrs. Bradley, Mrs. Spilker, and Mr. Sichting Another test?l I didn ' t pass the last onel! Time out! It ' s time to goof off This class looks interesting. I wonder if they ' re learning anything. I doubt it! • M  «l ORGANIZATION Sunshine Makes the World Seem Brighter Sunshine Society has an SOS com¬ mittee each month to help around the community and Indian Creek. A L u V Tv w-™ ! 1 ' it ACTIVITIES 1972-73 Homecoming Queen Sandra Mullen- dore enjoys her new position. 1972 Homecoming started with a pow¬ der puff football game, pitting the seniors and freshmen against the juniors and sophomores. The seniors and freshmen coming out victorious. Following the powder puff game a bonfire lit the faces of any Indian Creek fan brave enough to face the weather. Myra also received a $500 scholarship from Delta Theta Tau Sorority and a cassette re¬ corder for use in her classes at college. Junior Class President Mark Renner receives the senior key from Senior Class President Paul Clark in Awards Day Ceremonies. Linda Frownfelter and Janet Mitchell receive awards from Mr. Nation for Valedictorian and Salutatorian. Myra Watson receives scholarship from the Alpha Chi Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. Awards Day turned out to be a com¬ ical ceremony as well as a serious one. Students who worked hard during their high school years were awarded, and teachers who also worked hard were re- warded-with gags. Seniors presented members of the faculty with gifts like this—peanut butter, gerbils, frogs, and even an Archie Bunker T-shirt. Cecil Giles presents Mr. Wagoner with Jerry Gerbil at the awards day program. Awards Day Dearly beloved, we are gathered together here in the sight of God, and in the presence of these witnesses to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony. (Pat Woods, Sandy Mullendore, Greg Voshell) I Eliza sings, I could have danced all night. (Kim Holt, Luanne Hickey, Teresa Heiney, Sandy Mullendore, Jayme Price, Janet Mitchell) Jane Eyre and My Fair Lady have one thing in common in that Greg Voshell had the male lead in both productions. Jane Eyre is a dramatic love story by Charlotte Bronte which starred Teresa Heiney as Jane. My Fair Lady is a musical that starred Julie Andrews on Broadway for 2717 performances. Sandy Mullen¬ dore played the part Eliza Dolittle. Both were done quite well thanks to the hard work by the casts and the directors. Just you wait Henry Higgins, just you wait (Sandy Mullendore) Pickering, why can ' t a woman be more like a man? questions Higgins. (Greg Voshell, Pat Woods) The cast of the production My Fair Lady. Couples danced to the music of the Light Touch. After the prom many retired to the Y in Martinsville where there was pool, ping pong, basketball, swimming, and refreshments. The king and queen dance the coronation dance. Paul Wilder, Chris Abel, and Kim Holt have fun swimming at the Y Nancy Weaver, a junior sponsor, seems to be enjoying herself.
