In my choice ofgood or evil Let me never choose the wrongg In maintaining a just level Make me resolute and strong. Fill my heart with human kindness, And va deep abounding love, Heal my soul of all its blindness, Give me wisdom from above. Let me understand my weakness, But to know my strength as well,' Give to me the might of meekness, And let peace within me dwell. In my stand for human justice Make me firm, and brave, and strong, Let me always see what right is, That I never may judge wrong, In the ordeals that confront me Let me wisely choose my way, Give me vision that Imay see How to live each passing day. --Saints' Herald, December 2, 1944 A 1:.:gffi,,1f-ff '-fr -:+,ff- - 59.5, 'ii in -DF-..A A- ' :V fe.f15+f5 5533155 :coffin 7-1- i ,fes 1 'Ljx I ffl? The three months the '1S'an and other student nurses from several cities and states spend at St. Louis State Hospital is an experience one could never forget. The student learns the key to coping with life, herseM and everyone she meets. The long tunnels, the canteen, and the many characteristic words of her patients can never be erased from her mind. . urn Oil A glipse of the new main building soon to be open for care at Mt. Vernon. At Mt. Vernon State Sanitorium, nursing students are aided in understanding and dealing with patients who have tuberculosis, other chronic pulmonary diseases, and thoracic surgery. Here in one month in the farm community atmosphere, they practice caring for long term patients and enjoy God 's creations. Mt. Vernon does something for the students-maybe its phone calls from high school boys, the constant rain, muddy duty shoes, or napkin technique . No matter what it is it will truly be memorable. Becky Ackley, Jacque Cripps, Cindy Millerg Lorna Westhofjf Laurel Oppelt, and Renne Laloie pose on this bright summer day at State Sanitorium. Nursing involves all seasons even in Mt. Vernon. Donna Nicolaison, Diana Argotsinger, Billie Lures, Jan McKay, and Nina Campbell display tlze Christmas tree which is part of the Christmas spirit at State Sanitorium. Kltifclrend Children's Mercy Hospital--soon to be located in a new building k Mna and Argot rustle up some chow in the kitchen. 48 eI'C g All the modern conveniences of home. Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City is rewarding and heartbreaking as students learn to deal with childhood diseases. The three months provides knowledge in growth and development and experience in handling children. It also provides homemaking experience in that each student must cook her own meals. 0 , - - - - f-'--- W- --'-f Y -----N - - -A-LgY!Y YYVY -M W , .., - - Y-.nm,,,,,,, AM , 5' ,,,-1--3--5 Q--,-.-4.1--- ., .-- ..A.. , -...- - V Y -p ?9 X Q, V? -JM ,, f ' F2 W 1 ' 4 ,i ' 'a U +3 z ff f J .... 1 Y f ww 1 ,. 1 - V w, , im, QU V as 'W ' Wy . c 1 ko '.
