We've come through a year of studies -papers, exams, and lectures. You've stood by during these and added your encouragement. You stood by during our Halloween Party and made a ter- rific cheering section at our basketball games. We've made a good start. We continue to look forward to the follow- ing years for a wonderful friendship and fellowship together with you-Barbara Bloom. Page 26 pf-'r Qi? , 25.1 Betty Floyd, Vice President, Linda Brundige, President, Carah Hendrix, Secretary Treasurer. jl e6Al'l'l6l,l'l 651,56 September 2, 1957 - forty-three ex- uberant girls arrived at the Nurse's home to begin three short years to set the foun- dation for their lives, to mold and build their potentials and talents into lives of beauty and service as nurses. Since that time they have participated in wonderful experiences together. One of the first activities they shared in was a class devotional which set the tone for many more to follow throughout the year. This year's nurse's chorus numbered among its songsters thirty-one mem- bers of the class' and on the volleyball team are found several of their more agile classmen. One of the high points of the year was Freshmen initiation in all its facets and fornis. Informal initiation character- ized by its colorfully garbed Raggedy Anns and Tom Sawyers, culminated the night in the San's first formal initia- tion. As. each Freshman received her beautiful white Carnation, she was im- pressed with the solemnity of the occa- sion - of the challenge to her to give of her best. Another San first came when in No- vember, instead of March, the class of 1960 received their Caps in an inspiring Capping service in the Stone Church. The following day heightened with ex- citement, joy and anticipation, as the girls began their first day on the floors, giving care to their first real patients. lt was a big day and one whose mem- ory time will not soon erase. A most successful project of the class was that of establishing a basketball team to represent the school and currently the class is making curtains for the Negro Children's Home as a result of the need they sensed upon a field trip visit. The Class is looking forward to many more occasions of fun and frolic, of growth and inspiration as they share to- gether in the forthcoming Raigious Em- phasis Days, plan for the annual May Festival and many other activities that fill the days of a Freshman student nurse.
