Millet, out very capable principal, has been in his present position for twenty years. Before becoming principal, he taught algebra here. Besides being a member of the Kiwanis Club, Mr. Miller is proud to be District Commissioner of the Three Trails District of the Boy Scouts of America. When interviewed, his comment was, My routine is always a variety, and there is never a dull moment. Each day finds him working at the tremendous job of seeing that Junior High School runs smoothly and operates effi- ciently. His daily routine includes listening pa- tiently to problems of students, seeing that schedules are carried on as planned, coordinat- ing the day's work by means of regular an- nouncements over the inter-communication sys- tem, and taking care of any of the numerous other items in the life of a busy junior high school of nearly one thousand students. Each spring, just before the close of the school year, student enrollments are taken for the coming term. With all this information before him, the, principal is busy during the summer working out classes for these enroll- ments, seeing that books and other supplies are on hand by the beginning of the fall ses- sion, and preparing class schedules for teachers. When asked what some of his responsi- bilities are, Mr. Miller replied, Trying to makeheveryone happy. Qualities he likes to find in students are pleasing personality, cooperation, school spirit and loyalty, and fairly good grades. Mr. Miller, day by day, sets a fine example for the students by being cheerful, sincere, and fair minded. Louis Mannen Vice-Principal Our vice-principal, Mr. Louis Mannen, hails from Montrose, Missouri. He received his college education from Missouri State College at Warrensburg, Missouri, Colorado State College, and Kansas City University. Before coming to Independence to teach shop, he taught at Belton, Missouri. Besides Mr. Mannen's busy, daily job of filling the shoes of vice-principal, he also teaches a ninth grade algebra class. :apes ....g. -.aiJi:i..
