env-pf-.Q -....1-up .- . V 1 School! The 1953-SL school year will be remembered by the students and faculty as a year when Junior High School grew beyond its limits and new building facilities had to be found for the coming year. ' A The building, the campus, and the playing fields are all important to you students but the most important thing that happens in your education experience here is what you are able to learn. The time you spend in Junior High is the time to get a firm grasp on the fundamental subjects and to learn the necessity for good citizenship now and in the years to come. You have many capable and dedicated instructors. They can do their part but you must also do all you are capable of doing if success is to be yours. It should be well known by now that I have a high regard for Junior High School and all the remarkable accomplishments of the faculty and student body. I offer my best wishes to the faculty and students. Lowell c. Keith ' Ill. Paul Brown lin colleen Yochaa' Secretary Clerk ii r -A

4-Y-yuan vw .pw-Y' - ,Principal or Junior sign sensor Scholarshlp ls usually thought to be merely the attainment of high grades. However scholarship is not necessarily just plugging away for grades to be put on a report card or to beat someone else, but ls the using of one's time and talents as efficiently as possible in order to achieve a well-rounded foundation in the fundamental subjects. Scholarship is adding to one's knowledge in the best possible way ln order to establish a better way of life. L , There are many qualities which lead to good scholarship, among them are the following: ' V S elf-development..........the desire that comes from within to do the best you can with what you have. C hallenge....... ....which begins early in life, is that quality which keeps you going ln the face of difficult problems. . H ab1te......... ....a way of doing things which will serve you through life. O rganlzatlon.... ....of your physical, mental, and spiritual self as well as your time and talents. L aarning..... ....facts should not be just memorized but learned so they may become a part of you. what you know, you use. A chlevement.... ....the attainment of a goal. Your goals may change often from childhood to adulthood, but as each goal is reached another should be set. R esponslbll1ty.... ....you have an obligation to yourself and to others ln return for the opportunity to learn. S elf-confldence.... ....galned when you do your best. This cannot be handed to' you...lt must come from within. H onesty...................with yourself, your parents, and your teachers. If you are truly honest with yourself, you will do your best. I ntelligent appllcat1on...of the facts you have learned will keep you out of a maze of wasted effort. P urpose...................learn as much as you can, in as many ways as you can, from as many people as you can. Hay I urge Junior High boys and girls to add these qualities to their gssls to be achieved along with proficiency ln WREAD1N', R1TIN', and 'RITHMETIC'. Marshall Hiller'
