Mr. Harry Dreifus Our football and basketball coach at Junior High also doubles as an eighth grade history teacher. He fulfilled his childhood ambition of being a coach, but his pet peeve is athletes who lack pep and hustle. He thinks Junior High students are full of pep. Mrs. Eugenia Shull Orrick, Missouri is the birthplace of Mrs. Eugenia Shull, Home Room 212, although Independence is her home town. Her childhood ambition was to become s teacher. This she fulfilled after attending Kansas City Univer- sity, Warrensburg State College, and Missouri University. She likes birds for pets. Mrs. Frank J. Lewis Independence is the home town of Mrs. Frank J. Lewis, Home Room 213, who was born ln Lafayette County, Missouri. She fulfilled her childhood ambition to become a teacher after attending Central Missouri State College, Warrensburg, and the University of Missouri. Mis! lreda Hinnah The challenge that she receives as a teacher of boys and girls is the most in- teresting experlence of Miss Freda Hlnnah, Home Room 209. She was born in Gilliam, Missouri which is her home town. She attend- ed Central Missouri State College that she might fulfill her childhood ambition to be- come a teacher. A favorite aunt was her childhood idol. 'Caesar' is her choice comic strip and she likes the song WToo Late Now'. She has a pet, 'Poochie', s Branch Water dog, whose first home was in Nebraska. Miss Hinnah enjoys shows, television and reading. Mr. louis A. Mannen Born aid reared in Montrose, Missouri, was Mr. Mannen, Home Room Shop. He received his education at Colorado State College and Central Missouri State College, warrensburg, Missouri. His favorite colors are brown, tan, and green. Steak is his choice in food. Favorite entertainments are square dancing, traveling, and crafts. lisa Helen Rucker Born in Saline County, Missouri, Miss Rucker, Home Room 219, calls Independence her home town. Colleges were listed as Central State at warrensburg, and Universi- ties of Missouri, Wyoming, and Denver. To be a librarian was her childhood am- bition, and she remembers as full of inter- esting experiences, her teaching in a one- room rural school at the age of seventeen. Miss Rucker likes traveling, 'Blondlen, and Doublemint gum. Mr. Donald Welborn Loud noise is the pet peeve of Mr. wel- born, band and orchestra teacher in room 100. Mr. Welborn's favorites include swimming, reading, and music. He likes attending motion pictures. Mr. Loren McConnell Born in Halfway,Oregon, Mr. McConnell, director of beginning band, had a childhood ambition nto be a six-footeru. His home town is Independence, Mo. He received his college background at C.M.S.C., Warrensburg, Mo.and the University of Michigan. Watching the de- velopment of a good student has been his most interesting experience. His childhood idol was Douglas Fairbanks, Senior. He likes the comic strip UPogoU and the song, nOh, How I Hate to Get Up in the Morningn., Talking is his favorite entertainment. He owns several pets: a dog, a parakeet, a turtle, and some tropical fish. Mr. James R. Stillings Here is a man who probably has a thought in common with the students because his most interesting experiences during his teaching career have been his vacations. Valley City, North Dakota is the birthplace and home town of Mr. Stillings, Home Room 218. He received his college education at Macalester College, St. Paul, Minnesota, and the University of Minnesota. Evidently, Mr. Stillings didn't have much pull because he did not realize his childhood ambition to become a dentidt. His idol as a child was Bob Feller. He likes any kind of gum and uTerry and the Piratesn is his favorite comic. Mr. Stillings likes music and sports for entertainment. HClair de Lumen is his favorite song. Miss. Sally Cutler Home Room 328 is happy to present Miss Cutler, now of Independence. She was born in Wichita, Kansas, and received her college education at the University of Missouri. Clark Gable was her childhood idol and she aspired to be an artist. when the hall monitors mistake her for one of the students of the school, Miss Cutler finds it amusing. Queried about comics and songs, she listed 'Dagwoodn and nSt. George and the Dragonetn. For entertainment, this popular art teacher likes to swim and fish. She, owns a Cocker Spaniel, and says she prefers Wrig1ey's Spearmint when interested in gum. Mr. Sidney Willis who is the teacher whose childhood am- bition was to be President of the United States? lt's no other than Mr. Willis, math- ematics teacher in Room 321. He was born in Corder, Missouri, but his home town is Indep- endence. He received his college education at Central Missouri State College, and Kansas University. His favorite comic strip is uB1ondieH and for songs, he chooses, HYou, You, Yduu. Mr. Willis has no pets. Miss Pat Dalton Miss Pat Dalton, born in Chickasha, Ok- lahome, received her college education at Southwest Missouri State College, Spring- field, Missouri. Her home town is Carthage, Missouri. She claims that lack of artistic ability kept her from fulfilling her child- hood ambition to draw for salt Disney. Will Rogers was her childhood idol. She likes the comic strip WHenryW. Her favorite song changes with her moods. Many types of enter- tainment vie for top honors. She likes Doublemint chewing gum. Mrs. Alice Tlgner Y At the head of the long line of children with excuses, is our attendance secretary, Mrs. Alice Tigner. hrs. Tigner was born in Mayview, Missouri. Her childhood ambition was to travel and to go places. Her favorite comic strip is 'Gasoline Alley'. Playing bridge, in leisure time, and seeing, are her hobbies. hrs. Tigner especially likes the color blue and enjoys watching football games. Miss Virginia Morford The busy secretary to our principal is Miss Morford. Born and reared in Independ- ence, she received her college education at Graceland College, Ismoni, Iowa. Her child- hood ambition was to be a secretary, and that she is now, and a very good one, too. About comics, she answered, nNo time for themn. Her favorite song is HBlue Moonu and her choice' of entertainment is,nA good ice-skating show? 15
