They say that they w1ll be glad to be out at last but wtll they? Oh yes by the tune they get to be senlors they are ured of the studymg t1red of the da1ly rouune ured of the rules Sexuors are always full of grtpes about the faculty the Student Council, the underclassmen the rules But how long before they begm to wlsh they were 1n htgh school again? For all the grtpmg semors do they have had a lot of fun durmg thetr four years at Jefferson. It will be many years before they forget the1r hlgh school days As freshmen, thetr class was just as scared as all the prevtous freshmen and just as scared as all the future freshmen wtll be. They had the same dtfftculues wtth lockers and fmdmg classrooms Once somewhat farrultar wxth the hectlc hxgh school ltfe, they tr1ed to follow parltamentary procedure U1 electmg secretary and Jeanne Ballou treasurer They were very exctted and very proud when thetr homecomlng float wlth the captton We ll Whtp Em won f1rst place The class elected Vtrglma Rose to represent them as Homecommg attendant The Sock Hop was the mam headache 1nthe1r sophomore year but w1th a lot of work and a dependable staff of class offlcers the dance was a success A huge paper sock ftlled w1th balloons and confettt was the product of thelr enthustasuc labor and thetr eagerness for recogrnuon. Jtm Cornwell was class presldent that year wtth Jtm Mason BeverlyCah1ll and Lmda Gorham actmg as vtce prestdent secretary and treasurer respecttvely The selectmg of class rmgs was another of the memorable expertences of their sophomore year Ann Wtesender was thetr homeconung attendant. Most of the burden of the ,T uruor Semor Banquet and Prom was borne by the class offtcers who were prestdent, Bart Swltzer vxce prestdent ,Ttm Mason secretary Vtrgtma Rose and treasurer Kaaren Overland The theme of the annual dance was 'The Old South and was carrxed out by the use of marukms dressed as a lady and a gentleman of the South standtng by a fountatn 1n a garden That year they elected Shan Frye to represent their Jumor class as Homeconung attendant and they placed f1rst w1th thetr fl at s theme ' We're Expectmg a Vtctory - ,, . . . their class officers.
