Phyllis lxflnrolf. 5121971 S ' TRLS' GLEE CLUB, sponsored by Miss Charlotte Urquhart, met the first of the year with a membership of nineteen. A point system was drawn up, and the followina officers were elected: President, Lavonne Barskey vice-president Eileen Gerdesq secretary and treasurer, Phyllis Marolf. During the year, the girls sang at the Ladies' Musicale, February 4, the play Sun Up, November l3, festival, March 29, concert, April 29, and commencement May 24. An initiation banquet at the Gedney Hotel, Christmas carolina, favorite dish supper, theatre party, and a picnic made up the social program. THE GIRLS' TRIO, composed of Lavonne Barske, senior, Phyllis Marolf, senior, and Frieda Chanen, junior, was first organized two years aqo as the first of its kind in Independence Hiah School. We orqonized three novelty groups' the Gerrnon Bond, the Booster Bond, ond the Mountaineer Bond, scripts for which were written by Mr. Borker. 'l'hot's rioht, strike up the Bond! Crchestro LSC under Mox Borlcer's direction is the orchestro, which wos octive os on cr- oonizotion only second semester. This group furnished music for oll ploys ond, incidentolly, bod rinqside seorts to them. With the vocol groups it presented cr successful concert April 29. A couple of hot violinists, Richard Miller ond Wilbur Nielsen, were members of the Mountaineer Bond.
