After Hours UTSIDE of the reqular Courses in school, but still an important part ot each qirl's and boys day, is the activity proqrarn. Groups meet both in the morning at 8:00 and in the afternoon at 3:26. Leadership, sportsmanship, and service to the school are fostered here. These activities also furnish ample opportunity for students to meet and minqle, and to prepare them- selves tor responsibilities that will soon be theirs. S., While it is played and practiced after hours, is by no means an easy course. In a tough season the Maroons took all the bumps in the road, but coaches predict better times ahead. When, on Ianuary l5, Coach Eddie Anderson of the University of Iowa came to Independence High School to speak at the Father-Son Legion party and award large white I's to the football players, he was to find that more underclassmen had turned out, and more of them had gained football experience this year than at any other time in the school's recent history. Tiffany, Clue, Holder, Hovey, L. Donnelly, Satterlee, Peterson, and Anderson are numbered among the graduating seniors, but fifteen members of the squad remain to form the nucleus for next year's team.
