60 attempt to incorporate in the scope of one volume, a thorough chronicle of one year of I. H. S. life, would be a task well- nigh impossible. May the glimpses portrayed throughout these pages, however, bring to mind once more the school year 1927328. May they awaken memories in the hearts of former students of this Dear Old School on the Wapsie g may they arouse a new interest in the minds of our parents and out - of f school friends, and may they, most of all, in the lives of future students of I. H. S., act as an incentive to greater achievements in Scholarship, a high er quality of Service, more purpose- ful Leadership, and, iinally, the foun- dation of a character worthy of an l. H. S. student.

Hovey The City Schools of Independence have made wonderful progress during the regime of the present Board of Education, Only this year, two very worthwhile additions have been made. One is the establishment of the kindergarten in two of our local grade schoolsg and the other, the forming of plans for establishing a Junior College in the Hijh School Building to be ready next school year. Independence boasts one of the best High Schools in this part of the state, taking all into consideration. Enrollment for the past year has been around 'Z 85, with a faculty of 16. The building is reasonably new, strirtly modern, and is really very well equipped. Work is offered along all major lines, and the same can be said of extra-curricular ac- tivities. A new athletic iield and track, a large gymhasiurnx a fairly large reference li- brary, well equipped shops and laboratories for work in science, Home Economics and Manual Ats, are only a few of the many advantages offered by I. H. S. Fin-ally, the Student Body itself, is one of the cleanest, peppiest bunches you'll find anywhere. Is it any wonder we're all loyal to the Dear old School on the Wapsie?
