M ontgomery County High School 11 High School are university or normal school graduates and most of them have specialized in order that they might bet- ter fit themselves for the work of their respective depart- ments. The ten members now composing the Faculty have held their present positions for periods ranging from one to eleven years. Their experience, their personal acquaintance with the pupils, and their knowledge of the needs and condi- tions of the school make their services especially valuable. ADMISSION. Any applicant holding a common school diploma or a teachers certificate, or anyone who has completed the eighth grade in a city school of good standing will not be required to take an examination. Other students seeking admission must pass a satisfactory examination in reading, spelling, penmanship, arithmetic, geography, grammar, United States history, Kansas history, physiology and hygiene, and civil government. Students who have completed work in other high schools may be given advanced standing at the Princi- palis discretion. EXAMINATIONS. Two examinations for admission are held each year. The examination for the common school diploma, which admits to the high school, is held on the last Saturday of March and the first Saturday of April. The questions are prepared and the papers graded by the County Superintendent and the Faculty of the County High School. On Wednesday and Thursday before the opening of the fall term, another ex- amination is given. An average standing of 70 per cent with a minimum of 60 per cent is required for a diploma. The same grades made at the fall examination admit the pupil to any department. Applicants who received any grades of 7 O or more in the spring examination will be ad- mitted if, at the fall examination, they pass creditably on the remaining branches.
