These two fine run- ners seem to be Inde endence's best future prospects. .Hesse and Jose also ran Varsity for much of the season. The team as a whole was as well as to be expected, and we look towards next year to be another exciting one. The girls cross country team had a good season this year. The team was led by Maurreen Barrerasg MVP Award winner as a soph. Mau- reen placed twelfth in league and ran 15:57 at the 2.3 mile Alum Rock Park course. Other outstanding runners were Cathy Krygier, Sheri Smith and Becky Ordonez. Great season Team!!! X-COUNTRY

l?lL 'k WATER POLO This year's team had a dpretty good season, taking thir place in north division with a 8-5 sea- son record and a 3-2 league record. The team surprised a lot of teams. Also this ear's team was very young with only two seniors in t e startin line- up They had an expgosive 0 fensive attack. They depended on their goalies David Bunyard fjrj and Shawn Walch fsophj who switched all the time. The MVP award went to Tim Woolford and who also made second team all lea ue and was the second leaging scoring on the team, with 17 goals. Outstanding defensive player was Jim Twig also got honorable mentions and was the first leading scorer with 23 goals. Most Improved Player was Staff -Lehr fsophj who ended up starting in the fsf 'i22 ' middle of the season. Most Inspirational went to Phil Creech and the Coaches Award went to John Taka i. Mike Brock also got honoraile men- tions. swiss Ocon, Mike Surber, Mike Pearson, Jeff Trappa, John Pearson, Kevin Twohig, Dana WATER POLO
