TUFQE 1 I' The independence High School 76er Cavalry Band under the direction of Mr. Bob Russell and Mr. Dan Smith have thrilled many crowds with their marching and playing of such American classics as: Stars and Stripes Forever, Hoe Down, and many others. The 170 members of the band are led on the field by Drum Major Ron Vitug fopposite left bottomjp and Majorette Jane Filice Cupper right hand cornerj. The 1977-78 season has been marked by improvement in all areas of competi- tion. The high point of this year has to be the band's invitation and participation in the 1978 Tournament of the Roses Parade in Pasadena, which is an honor almost unheard of for a second year band.

It was a challenge that they met successfully. Now that graduation is approaching, this first senior class has moved on to new challenges.
