This year's Independence Girls Athletic Letter Club CG.A.L.C.J is off to a great start. The purpose of this club will be to support all girls athletics. lt consists of 26 members, which includes: a President, Robin Leep Treasurer, Lori Collinsg and Secretary, Maria Arevalo. The coaches who have helped advise the club are: Kathy Reedp Sandy Haupert, Deb- bie Sordellog and Lynn Tay- lor. The Portugese Azorean Club was started to unite the Portugese people. The club participated in the winter carnival by selling food and sweet bread. Their goals for this year was to go on field trips and enrich themselves on their own cultural backgrounds. Club Pres. In an attempt to foster cul- tural understanding of the Asian peoples, the Oriocci COriental-Occidentalj Club was formed. They participated in the Winter Carnival by selling won-tons, fortune cookies and fresh-cut flowers. To further cultural under- standing, they sponsored a Multicultural Week in May. Their goal this year was to share their cultural herit- age with the students at Independence High School. The creative writing club was formed in order to gather students at IHS with imagination and art ability to write and put together stories, which make up Stone Soup Vol. 2 a magazine put out by the club advisors. CLUBS The CSF CCalifornia Schol- arship Federationj club is a I honor society based on the grade level of the students. The members provide ser- l vices for the school in the form of projects. Some of these projects include rais- ing money for needy stu- dents and managing the concession stands at the games. The advisors are Mr. Taylor, Mr. Miller, Ms Rowney, Mr. Hedberg, Mr. Gallerman, and Ms. Man eri. The Amateur Radio club makes transmitters and receivers so that they will be able to communicate with people all over the world.
