' nm The Chicano Student Union was lead this year by President, Gilbert Fuentes, Vice President Becky Escalantes, Secretary Imelda Farias, Treasurer Maria Barrera, Sargeant Celica Torres and also Sargeant- At-Arms Joe Gomez. The Chicano Student Union Of Independence High School is an excellent program designed to unite all chicanos of l.H.S. They raised money for scholarships, help any member with school matters and basically help provide a feeling of togetherness among the club. They have seven advisors, Mr. Castro, Mr. Ordaz, Mr. Renteria, Mr. Echandia, Ms. Russell, Mr. Cadena and Ms. Chavez. They met every Thursday and played chess. And with more experienicie neilt year they hope to hold tournaments against other schools.

Thanks!!! future business leaders of america gm-sxww 4 The Future Business Leaders Of America met on the third of November and wrote a constitu- tion. Their main goal is to assist stu- dents who plan to set up a business of their own. At Christmas they sold candy grams, and at Thanksgiving they sold turkey grams. Officers are: President Jane Filice, Vice President John Sarantakis, Secretary Jackie Cruz, Allen lnouye, Treasurer Lauri Garcia, Historian Fatima Tosti, and Parliamentarian Pat Sanders. 83
