16 - . .. dedication: mr. jay handy The students of Independence High School unanimously dedicated this, our first yearbook, to Mr. Jay Handy. A few years ago, he decided that educat- ing young people would be a more rewarding ventur :1 1 his profession at that time, which was an accountant. He proceeded to btain the neces- sary degrees and credentials and became a Social Studies teacher at Pied- mont Hills High School. His work with the students there convinced him that he had chosen the right career. Mr. Handy then received an administrative credential and, fortunately for us, was appointed a Villa Principal at lnde- pendence High School. He has been involved this year in all Student Ser- vices and has devoted many hours to us, our problems, and our activi- ties. Mr. Handy has a wife and three children and we would like to thank them, too, for his time and their understanding. He has been our advisor and our leader but, most of all, our friend.
